"If our goal is health, justice and hope, then there is no finish line." Our CEO David Duea enjoyed speaking to 🦍Keenan Hart💜on the latest Hart & Hustle podcast. What is the personality trait that David gives his parents credit for? What is the item that he gives away to strangers on airplanes? Why did he love washing dishes at his first social work job? Check out the podcast and find out. On Spotify, Apple and YouTube. https://lnkd.in/gzfBQYvu #HealthJusticeHope #NonprofitLeadership

Our Santa for Seniors program keeps growing outside Washington state and inside the state, too! Recently our fledgling #Bellingham SFS team assembled and distributed 200 Fall Emergency Kits to isolated seniors in the #whatcomcounty area. Thank you to the members of First Presbyterian Church, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, and Echoes for helping assemble bags for local case workers and housing managers to distribute. We are excited to spread JOY in the upper left hand corner of the Pacific Northwest. #HealthJusticeHope #ChristmasinOctober #ChristmasSpirit

For the first time in three decades, the U.S. government admitted 100,000 refugees in a fiscal year. They have set a target of 125,000 for the coming year. LCSNW is glad to do our part. We won't be daunted by stiff political headwinds. We won't relent at a time when new arrivals are often treated as criminals, despite hard-won legal protections and years spent in refugee camps. We won't turn away from our work of #HealthJusticeHope and #welcomingthestranger.

Meet Atifa. Her activism for women's and girls' rights back home in Afghanistan made her unpopular with the Taliban. Now living in Vancouver, Washington, Atifa tells her story in this video. She is grateful for the asylum-seeking legal aid that her family has received from our Safe Route Immigration team. "We are safe here," she says, "and we are happy." We are honored to stand with her. #HealthJusticeHope. #refugeeswelcome https://lnkd.in/gAnQM6ay

We mourn the death and remember the life of Roberta Nestaas, our former President and CEO. LCSNW wouldn't be what it is today if not for her nearly 40 years of service. Roberta had different roles in different cities (from #Spokane to #Seattle), and LCSNW had different names, but her commitment never wavered. Roberta was a champion of #HealthJusticeHope. Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/gddHSfAM

We can't think of a better way to observe the #911anniversary than by joining a community service event -- Americans, Iraqis, Afghans and others showing that #refugeesarewelcome and #unitedwestand. Many thanks to the #Tacomawa Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for hosting a mass assembly of refugee family starter kits. Around 350 tubs were loaded with kitchen, bathroom, and personal hygiene items. The tubs were full, the gym was full, and our hearts are full! #HealthJusticeHope.

We'd like to introduce you to hasenat eqbali, an Afghan woman whose life was turned upside down when the Taliban seized control three years ago. Her story is one of resilience, courage, and hope as her family fled their homeland in search of safety. Our Safe Route Immigration team is honored to assist Hasenat with her legal status and is cheering for her as she pursues her computer science career. She tells her own story in this video: https://lnkd.in/d-yGG4MK #HealthJusticeHope #refugeeswelcome #womenintech

Santa for Seniors is about more than gift-bag distributions and more than Christmas. It's about breaking the chains of senior isolation year-round. Our Santa for Seniors team led by Susan Nocella CDM, CFPP is always thinking of creative ways to do this. Read how middle schoolers at Annie Wright Schools in #tacomawa are helping through our "Time to Talk" program. #HealthJusticeHope https://lnkd.in/gmVkp_wE
