Lyles Group Internship Program

Yesterday was the last day of my summer internship with WM Lyles. I had the privilege of working under several brilliant engineers and construction workers on a variety of different projects. I was exposed to many different aspects of water treatment facilities and was able to learn a lot about a construction industry that I was not very familiar with. From all the different variables involved with underground piping to the massive above ground structures we built. I want to thank every Lyles employee that was a part of my internship . Every single one of you taught me something new about this job. I look forward to starting my 3rd year at Cal Poly as I work towards receiving my bachelors in construction management so that one day I to can become a great engineer like the ones here at WM Lyles.

Intern Days 2024 Recap: Day 3️⃣ On the third and final day, the interns participated in alumni and executive Q&A panels. These panels gave them a further look into what it means to be part of Lyles Group, listening to our sister companies' employees and leadership speak about their experiences. Scott Mendoca with American Paving Co., Ian Cline with New England Sheet Metal & Co., and Caroline Siebrecht with W. M. Lyles Co. sat on the alumni panel. They were all once interns and now work as full-time employees. The group heard about their experience as interns and their transitions to full-time. The alumni also shared insightful schooling and personal advice. At the executive panel, all six Presidents/CEOs within Lyles Group took the time to answer all the interns' questions about their companies, career paths, successes & failures, leadership styles, and personal & professional goals. We are incredibly grateful to have employees and executives who want to share their time and wisdom with the interns; it makes their experience all the more valuable. 🌟 Thank you to all the interns who attended Intern Days! Intern Days 2024 Recap: Day ✌️ To kickstart the day, Lyles Construction Group President/ CEO Rich Nemmer spent time with the interns, getting to know each of them individually. He then gave an in-depth presentation on the organization's history, milestones, and projects. The interns also received a headquarters tour and had lunch with Lyles group employees. In the afternoon, they took off to go to project site tours. Their first stop was at the sister company, New England Sheet Metal and Mechanical Co. shop. There, they were introduced to John Sloan, president and CEO, who gave an overview of the company’s history and values. NESM employees then presented their work and projects. After that, the group drove to Madera to see an in-progress water treatment plant that sister companies American Paving Co. and W. M. Lyles Co. are collaborating on. Not pictured, but to wrap up the day, the interns got to spend some more time and connect with executives and other employees of the Lyles group at a Fresno Grizzlies game. Intern Days 2024 Recap: Day 1️⃣ The interns gathered at Dave n' Busters for some fun team-building activities. They were split into three teams and competed against each other in arcade games. They had to quickly learn each other's strengths to beat out their competition 👀 . It's safe to say they had fun; the video speaks for itself! A couple of weeks ago, Intern Days 2024 occurred, and it was a huge success.
