Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of this storm. We are monitoring the storm and are prepared to respond based on the needs of the disaster region once the storm passes through. Our response is just beginning as communities across the United States recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Our team spent the day yesterday airlifting supplies to some of the hardest hit areas in North Carolina. Many people shared with us about the loss of loved ones, neighbors, and homes, "We were praying for a helicopter, and here you came. It means the world to us. When you are the one that needs help, it is just so amazing to see a helicopter land and bring supplies that your community needs. So thank you." Our Disaster Response Team is still in Florida providing laundry and shower services. We are also shipping supplies to partners in areas throughout the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Visit https://lnkd.in/gcUX5mqv for updates and to learn more about how you can help us continue to bring hope and aid to these communities. A special thank you to the employees at the Walmart DC in Midway, TN for so generously giving their time to help us load supplies to help their neighbors in need 💙

"This is a hurricane of tremendous size and destructiveness. I have been with our teams on prior disaster deployments and have seen the incredible damage these storms can cause. I have also seen the remarkable resilience of people after disasters. Their courage and determination is immense." Tim Mettey, CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries. Our hearts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene, which made landfall last night as a devastating Category 4 storm. The destruction and flooding across the southeastern U.S. has been catastrophic, with millions without power and entire communities submerged. We are closely monitoring Hurricane Helene as it moves through the Caribbean towards the Gulf Coast. Helene is currently classified as a Category 1 storm and is expected to rapidly intensify before making landfall as a major hurricane in Florida’s Big Bend region on Thursday, September 26. The storm is expected to bring wind speeds over 110 mph, a dangerous storm surge of up to 15 feet, and heavy rainfall of 5-10 inches, with some areas potentially seeing up to 15 inches. We are in communication with our partners and are prepared to respond as needed. Please stay informed and follow local weather warnings and evacuation orders. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the storm's path.
