Our Journalism and Media team recently attended the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia! Lauren Pabst, Senior Program Officer, and Maori Karmael Holmes, #BlackStar's CEO and Artistic Director, discussed the genesis of the event, how it's grown, and the future of the festival during a funder convening hosted by Media Impact Funders. At "Engines for a New American Narrative," Color Congress co-Executive Directors Sahar Driver and Sonya Crespo Childress reflected on their experience blazing pathways for bold nonfiction work. The conversation featured filmmakers Anurima Bhargava and Nadine Patterson, as well as Francis Cullado, Executive Director of Visual Communications Media, and Marángeli Mejía-Rabell, Director and Chief Curator of the Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival.
