  • "Leave it better than you found it." Had such a fun conversation with Jack McCarthy the Co-Founder and CEO Gold Leaf Farming. Gold Leaf's model fires us up. They vertically integrated investment and operations with intent to leave the farms they invest in and teammates they employ...better than they found them. With this model, Jack and his team have assembled a portfolio of nearly 12,000 acres of almond and pistachio orchards, making them one of the largest US growers of both crops. They have done so with a differentiated approach than most institutional farmland owners we have seen. Paying their farm operators living wages and providing healthcare and equity in their farms to their team. Jack is awesome...brings first principled thinking and innovation to a long term vision of flourishing for his team and investors. More on Gold Leaf Farming here: https://www.goldleaf.ag/ Here is a link to our conversation: https://lnkd.in/gmG4Z6g8 Hope you enjoy it and learn as much as we did! We love real estate investment that connects people to land and to each other. That’s our passion. If that fires you up then nerd out with me on our Borgo Bonelli property in Tuscany, Italy. 🇮🇹 🤓 It’s a: 1) Winery 2) Club 3) Hotel & Villas Created from restored XVIII century buildings and productive land purchased in 2023 from an Italian family that have owned the property since 1100 AD. We’re underway in renovating and restoring the properties. Set to open in Spring of 2025. This asset class/model is exciting and repeatable to us. Buying assets in Italian wine country next to rural villages. Renovating historical property to hotels and land to top tier wine production. Buying/renovating adjacent villas that can be purchased as whole or fractional vacation homes. Enhanced and brought to life through bespoke personalized hospitality. Investment returns via sales of villas (shorter term) and income from hotel, winery, and membership (longer term). Connecting Guests (hotel) and Members (villas) to land and to each other. Così Grato!
