UNDERDOGS is the title and the focus of a new, inspiring short film, sure to touch your heart. It is a very Philly story, featuring the closure and re-building of a South Philly rec center through the lens of a gymnastics team whose grit and Philly spirit are rewarded in the end, thanks in large part to Connor Barwin and Make The World Better Foundation. HUGE CONGRATS to the Vare Gymnastics Team and Maestro Filmworks and Kris Mendoza and Maria Vattimo for bringing this incredible story to the big screen. It is really beautiful. Friends, go see the second screening this Sunday at 5:45pm at the Film Society East Theater. And I’ll be emceeing the 9th Annual Philadelphia Fund Alliance Gala on November 7, 2024, at the Rittenhouse Hotel. Earlier this week, we got to watch one of our projects on the big screen at Climate Week NYC sponsored by Deloitte — and by big screen, we mean an immersive 270 degree wrap around screen at the venue at Convene. Working in a super wide aspect ratio and large format was a fun challenge for the team and it was great to see it in person!

Meet Seyi Ogundana who has spent the last few months as an apprentice with our Production Team! Seyi joins us through our partnership with Big Picture Alliance’s Media Futures program, a paid professional development & leadership program for BIPOC youth seeking careers in film and media. As an apprentice, Seyi has been pretty hands on with learning and being part of projects both in pre-production and on set.

In this short doc, we explore the creative process behind artist Calo Rosa's mural sponsored by Essity and Global Philadelphia Association in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia, which was unveiled last week in West Philly. The mural is part of a series aimed at highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and this one featured SDG#13: Climate Action. Much of Calo’s work draws inspiration from the natural world, so we took a trip to the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center to capture this stunning backdrop of tropical plants and succulents and give a glimpse into his artistic vision.
