Navigating life after limb loss can seem insurmountable. It can be hard to imagine being able to do the things you loved before or finding new hobbies and pastimes that bring you joy. It’s a challenge Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation’s peer mentor coordinator, Rebecca Levenberg knows all too well. In this article in Amplitude Magazine, Rebecca explains getting back on the road after limb loss involves more than physical adaptations and logistical hacks. It requires a new mindset. https://lnkd.in/endM9C8q

Introducing Cynthia Armstrong, our August creative arts therapy patient of the month! Cynthia is a dedicated rehab patient who has come a long way in her recovery. A stroke in September 2022 significantly affected Cynthia’s ability to move the right side of her body. She also lives with lymphedema, a chronic condition that causes blockages in the lymphatic system which results in swelling, most commonly in the arms and legs. In addition to traditional physical and occupational therapies, Cynthia has embraced creative arts therapies. Cynthia and dance/movement therapist, Lynn Faulk have been working together since March 2024 at the recommendation of her occupational therapist, Lisa Bitton. During her time at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation, Cynthia has regained the ability to stand, walk short distances with a standing walker and use her right arm. Cynthia’s mobility and strength also continue to improve which allows her to be more independent at home.

Congratulations to Amy Flemming, OT, and Colleen Dowd, PT, rehabilitation therapists at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation for receiving the July 2024 Mission Moment Award. Amy and Colleen were recognized for going above and beyond, showing her dedication to our patients and their family members. Here’s what her colleague had to say: "A local high school assistant principal was going to miss graduation due to being hospitalized. Two of his therapists went above and beyond by scheduling an outing outside of therapy hours to take him to the event. This required significant preparation, as he is medically complex and needed assistance from all disciplines. Vocational therapy (shout out to Vilma!) coordinated with the school to ensure all accommodations were met, nursing planned and administered his medications, and the kitchen staff provided a meal to take along. It was a true team effort, showcasing how our rehab team ensures patients can fulfill their roles even while hospitalized and after discharge. Special thanks to the Concierge Transport Team for getting them to the event!" MossRehab
