We did a thing last night… We released our October issue of Mahogany Columbus at COSI with (4) separate front covers! This issue is our salute to over twenty outstanding educators in our community many are Ph.D’s and even Ohio’s “Teacher of the Year.” Additionally, we were happy to feature two exceptional nonprofit executives who lead significant organizations in our community! Are you a subscriber? #fortheculture Always!

We’re honored to salute Ohio’s “Teacher of the Year” Ms. Danee’ Pinckney who is a proud graduate of THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. You probably won’t see this in your local news outlet. But this further is a testament to why Black-Owned media outlets matter most! Our next issue of Mahogany Columbus pays homage to those inspiring educators in our community who are passionate about their work despite being underpaid, and still remain dedicated and devoted to their profession! #fortheculture #teachers #education

Mahogany Media Group LLC reposted this
Four weeks from today our upcoming issue of Mahogany Media Group LLC will be highlighting some of the most influential educators and nonprofit leaders in our city, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! As I enter my tenth year in education (can’t believe it’s been that long 😱) I find myself reflecting on my journey and the incredible moments I’ve had the honor of implementing and co-creating on behalf of our students. I plan on sharing more of these moments leading up to the release in October. (Yes, this will be part one of a multi series post 🙃) I was born in Atlanta, what is now considered by many as a Mecca of Black excellence, during an era when the city was rapidly growing. My father’s entrepreneurial endeavors gave me a front-row seat to Black success at a young age, shaping much of who I am today. In a full-circle moment, I’ve had the privilege of taking students to Atlanta over the past two years to experience the city’s culture of Black excellence that’s been so pivotal in my life. From touring Spelman, Morehouse, and Clark, to engaging in community service, visiting the GA Aquarium, exploring the Civil Rights Museum, and even attending a Hawks game with a behind-the-scenes arena tour and court access—it’s been a transformative experience for them, and for me as well. Here’s a snapshot of our trip. #MahoganyColumbus #BlackExcellence #TenthYearInEducation

Congratulations go out to Anisa Liban… Recently she became the new CEO of the Somali Community Link, a Columbus nonprofit organization that supports Somali immigrants and refugees. Additionally, she was voted to join the board of the Westerville City Schools. She is a trusted community resource and we wish her much success in her new roles! #fortheculture #news #media
