We’re excited to introduce our summer 2024 Digital Communications #Intern, Nola Prevost! Nola is a #climate activist and writer from Brewer, ME, currently working full-time as an administrative specialist at UMaine in Orono, where she graduated in 2021 with a degree in English and a minor in Women’s Gender and Sexuality studies. She has written numerous public comments and a Letter to the Editor on the Advanced Clean Cars II Act that was published in the Bangor Daily News this spring. Her poetry and short stories have been featured in several literary magazines, including ‘The Open Field’ and ‘Beyond Words.’ This summer she will be working to help boost MCV’s social media presence by bringing new approaches to sharing our work online, hoping to extend MCV’s reach through digital media and our #storytelling workshop this summer. Currently she is also studying to be a Maine Master Naturalist, so that she can lead nature walks and be a trail guide for all those looking to enjoy the abundant ecology in Maine and spread awareness of the dangers of climate change in Maine.

Great piece in the The Portland Press Herald by MCV's Beth Ahearn & Lucy Hochschartner – voices across generations of climate action in Maine. "By uniting across generations and rallying behind a shared vision for our future, we can rise to the challenge of climate change and reestablish respectful, reciprocal relationships with the natural world, now, for future generations, and for all." 👏 Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/evmumUUr

As climate change and its harmful effects accelerate, so too does the urgency for effective climate action. Join Peter Dugas, the Maine State Coordinator for Citizens' Climate Lobby, for this interactive #climate policy workshop using MIT Sloan School of Management's EN-ROADS Climate Policy Simulator to explore our current climate trajectory, how recent legislation has improved our long-term outlook, and how Maine — the only state in the world’s largest economy with both senators (Sen. Angus King and Sen. Susan Collins) on the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus — can lead the nation and world in advocating a stabilized climate and a sustainable future.
