Our volunteer spotlight this month is wish granter and event volunteer, Nicole B. Nicole has been volunteering with Make-A-Wish for about 9 years, which she learned about through a friend who was volunteering with Make-A-Wish at the time. The most rewarding aspect of volunteering to Nicole is "Seeing kids light up with receiving their wishes. Even just the joy they get from wish boosts that keep them excited for their wish to come." Thank you for all you do, Nicole!

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
About us
At Make-A-Wish® MInnesota, we are more than a great place to work – our work is life-changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values – values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do, every day. Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in the U.S. and in 50 countries worldwide. Nearly 40 years ago the inspiration for Make-A-Wish began with one little boy’s wish to be a police officer. Today, together with our volunteers, donors, staff and supporters, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 300,000 life-changing wishes and transformed countless lives. There is nothing more powerful than making a child’s wish come true. And at Make-A-Wish, we will stop at nothing to ensure every eligible child received a life-changing wish. We believe – and research shows – that a wish gives kids the resilience, courage and strength they need to fight their critical illnesses. A wish doesn’t signify an end or one happy moment in time … a wish truly has the power to transform lives. This is why wishes matter. This is Make-A-Wish. Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

This month's staff spotlight is Betsy King, our Events and Development Manager! Betsy joined Make-A-Wish Minnesota in July of 2024, having previously worked for Make-A-Wish North Dakota for 3 years. When asked what the most rewarding aspect of working for Make-A-Wish is, Betsy said "I love being able to do work that is bigger than myself, focused on improving the lives of children, and helping to create joy." Help us welcome Betsy to Make-A-Wish Minnesota!

WISH GRANTED: Wish kid Beckett, age 11, had his wish granted to go on a fishing trip to Alaska! A big thank you to our official travel partner Sun Country Airlines for helping Beckett to fulfill his wish. "Beckett’s Wish came true!! Thank you, Make-A-Wish MN, for fulfilling his dream of salmon fishing in Alaska!! Beckett has luck on his side and is one lucky fisherman. He caught the very first sockeye salmon, as well as the most fish totaling 11 for the day. It was a trip of a lifetime! So many happy memorable experiences were shared. It brought so much joy to Beckett as well as our entire family. We couldn’t be more thankful!” -Beckett's mom #wishgranted
