Our volunteer spotlight this month is Maria B, wish granter, airport greeter, and wish booster! Maria found Make-A-Wish through social media in 2019. She had recently lost her husband due to cancer and wanted to volunteer somewhere that would make a difference. Beginning in 2024, she began her journey as a Make-A-Wish volunteer! When Maria's husband was battling cancer, they decided to buy him his dream car. According to Maria, "When we made the decision to get his dream car the last few months before his passing, he forgot what he was going through. Seeing his smile and even burst of energy was all worth it." We are so lucky to have Maria as a part of the Make-A-Wish volunteer team!

A big welcome to our Database Administrator and Analyst, Maria Turbi! Maria joined the Make-A-Wish Minnesota team in June of 2024, having previously worked for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. "One of my favorite moments was being able to participate in the wishes and meet lovely individuals. Because I am multilingual, I have been able to assist and participate in fulfilling their wishes," says Maria. Advice she would give to new volunteers is "to always be yourself and remember to follow the purpose. Enjoy each step and meet beautiful individuals." We are excited for Maria to join the team!

WISH GRANTED: Leo, age 3, had his wish for a Bluey-inspired room come true! A big thank you to everyone who bought items off his wish list to help make his wish come true! "After everyone left and things slowed down here Leo scooted around the room and checked out all of the areas. It was so cute! Before bed he sat by the bookcase and was reading books.
