Earlier this year, I gave a presentation to my child’s elementary school class on human rights for career day. They had no idea that protecting people’s human rights is work and that you could make a career around helping people live better. I was so excited about how curious they all were, asking provocative questions and sharing their own stories. “Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run it is easier. We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just one step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down.” - Eleanor Roosevelt On this Human Rights Day and 75th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, I am privileged and proud to be able to continue to do this work each day and in solidarity with all of my colleagues, near and far, who make it their life’s work to improve the wellbeing of people. Thank you Gayathri Unnikrishnan for inviting me to share my thoughts and raising awareness of human rights on Liveable for your December podcast. May this conversation spark some curiosity. #humanrights75 #undhr #businessandhumanrights #humanrights

🌍 Interested in human rights and corporate responsibility? 🌍 In the latest "Changing Tomorrow" episode, I spoke to Tu R., an award winning human rights advocate and she spoke about how EACH of us can contribute in the fight against forced labor. We dove into questions that might be on your mind if you're aiming to make a positive impact in these areas: - What really defines forced labor? - How can I identify signs of forced labor in my surroundings? - Can my shopping habits actually make a difference? - How does technology aid in ethical product selection? - What are simple yet effective steps to start supporting human rights? Tu is a respected advocate for human rights and her expertise has guided policies in major Fortune 500 firms like The Walt Disney Company, HP and Marriott International. Her journey is truly a testament to how individual efforts can contribute to global change. ⚡️ Today (Dec 10) marks World Human Rights Day and in times like these, it is crucial to understand how we can promote human rights within our circles of influence. 🔗 Here is the link to the episode: https://lnkd.in/gDwRChAJ #HumanRightsDay #SocialImpact #EthicalBusiness #ESG #ChangingTomorrow
