About us

Malone Specialty Inc. is a leading provider off foreign fluid flow connections, servicing North America for more than 33 years. MALONE SPECIALTY INC. is a leading provider of Metric, British, JIS, and other adapters and fittings. For over thirty-three years, we have supplied Metric, British, JIS, and foreign threaded fluid connecting products for industrial, construction and transportation applications in North America. Malone Specialty Inc. was founded in 1982. Its mission was to supply custom fluid connecting devices in metric threads. The first customer of the company was Mack Trucks Inc., who had just started selling the Mid-Liner series and wanted a domestic source for the metric fluid connectors as spare parts. This relationship quickly grew as Malone Specialty started to design and produce replacement lines and other components. As a company we sell custom metric fittings and special tube fittings, custom hose couplings, and adapters, to industrial distributors and dealers across the country. In 1997 the company made a commitment to become ISO 9001 certified. This certification was completed in the August of 1999. Over the years the company has increased its engineering capabilities and broadened its product offerings to satisfy its truck and OEM customers. The company is a family owned and operated corporation located in modern facilities in Mentor Ohio. It has grown considerably in the last decade and looks forward to continued growth based on its quality policy "Innovative Excellence in Customer Satisfaction".

The Importance of Hydraulic Safety: Don’t Cut Corners As highlighted by For Construction Pros in their article, “Don’t Cut Corners with Hydraulic Safety,” hydraulic systems operate under high pressure, and improper storage, installation, or servicing can lead to dangerous failures. Hot, highly pressurized fluid can spray from damaged hoses, posing a serious risk to workers and nearby personnel. Click here to learn more about hydraulic system safety and how to prevent accidents. Working safely with hydraulic systems requires proper training and common sense. According to Stede Granger, OEM technical manager at Shell Lubricants, all workers involved with hydraulic systems should be familiar with the pressures and temperatures within these systems. Modern machinery is designed for increased power, which translates to higher pressures and greater risks. Hydraulic systems in today’s construction equipment can reach pressures of up to 10,000 psi and temperatures exceeding 180°F. If a hose fails, the high-velocity spray can cause burns or even inject fluid into the skin, which can be life-threatening if left untreated. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYE-_9MC

Essential Tips for Proper Use and Care of Hydraulic Breaker As detailed by For Construction Pros in their article, “Refresher on Use and Care of Hydraulic Breaker Attachments,” hydraulic breakers are essential tools for demolishing rock, concrete, and construction materials. However, improper operation can lead to project delays and expensive repairs. Click here to read more about best practices for using and maintaining hydraulic breaker attachments. To ensure that your hydraulic breaker performs efficiently and has a long lifespan, it is crucial to follow proper operating techniques. One common mistake is focusing on a single spot for too long. Hammering in one place for more than 30 seconds without seeing penetration or cracks can damage the breaker, as well as its bushings and hydraulic seals. Rob Sherwin, president of Arrowhead Rockdrill, advises working from the edge of the material rather than the center to avoid excessive wear on the tool. Read more: https://lnkd.in/emHxXS-b

How Hose Monitoring Technology Prevents Costly Downtime As explained by Power & Motion in their article, “Hose Monitoring Prevents Costly Downtime,” the introduction of the Hose Diagnostic & Monitoring System (HDMS) from Gates Corp. offers a game-changing solution for industries reliant on hydraulic systems. Click here to learn more about how this innovative technology is reducing downtime and enhancing equipment safety. Hydraulic hose failure is a common cause of expensive downtime in industries like mining, construction, steel manufacturing, and wind energy. Traditionally, monitoring hose health relied on imprecise visual inspections, but the HDMS system now offers real-time monitoring of a hose's working conditions, estimating its remaining lifespan. This early-warning system allows operators to replace hoses before they fail, improving productivity and reducing repair and environmental cleanup costs. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ek_hsePm

The Role of Hydraulic Hoses in Heavy Machinery At Malone Specialty Inc., we recognize the indispensable role hydraulic hoses play in the operation of heavy machinery. Hydraulic hoses are critical components that facilitate the transfer of hydraulic fluid, enabling the movement and functionality of various parts within heavy machinery. Today, I want to discuss the significance of hydraulic hoses in heavy machinery and how they contribute to efficient and reliable operation. The Backbone of Hydraulic Systems Hydraulic hoses serve as the backbone of hydraulic systems in heavy machinery. They are responsible for conveying hydraulic fluid between components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, and motors. This fluid transfer allows for the precise control of movements and forces, enabling heavy machinery to perform tasks such as lifting, digging, and pushing. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e3dyq3Fd

How to Extend Hydraulic Breaker Life with Proper Maintenance As highlighted by For Construction Pros in the article, “How to Avoid Breaking Your Breakers,” hydraulic breakers endure extreme stress, often striking metal up to 1,000 times per minute. Despite this, proper maintenance can keep them running efficiently for years. Jim Lafon, attachments project manager at Doosan, emphasizes the need for a solid preventive maintenance plan to avoid costly breakdowns and extend equipment life. Tracking usage and scheduling maintenance is key. According to industry standards, a hydraulic breaker accumulates around 500 hours of runtime annually, based on 2,000 hours of carrier operation time. Manufacturers generally recommend breaking down and resealing the equipment every 500 hours to prevent wear and tear. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYwNjvCq

How to Safely Handle High-Pressure Hydraulic Systems As outlined in For Construction Pros' article, “Use Caution Under Pressure,” working with hydraulic systems can pose significant dangers, especially if pressure isn't relieved properly before maintenance. Scott Kane, global platform manager at Parker Hannifin Corp., explains that while hydraulic injuries are rare, they can be very severe when they occur. This is often due to technicians disconnecting hoses or seals while there’s still pressure in the system, causing hydraulic fluid to spray out at dangerous levels. Hydraulic systems store tremendous potential energy, with pressures reaching as high as 8,000 psi and temperatures up to 275°F in some cases. The failure of a hose under these conditions can result in severe injuries, including burns from hot fluid. As Raymond Wilkins, chief engineer at Eaton’s Hydraulics Operations, advises, technicians should allow the system to cool before performing any work. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e874RCeG
