In its latest move addressing #artificialintelligence, the #FCC issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to regulate robocalls made using #AI. This NPRM follows the agency’s Notice of Inquiry released last November, seeking information and input from communications-focused industries on how the FCC should respond to the rapid proliferation of AI technologies. For only the second time since 2018, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit granted a request for en banc review of a panel decision in a #patent case. Continuing a nationwide trend towards increased regulation of commercial financing, Governor Newsom has signed into law a bill extending the reach of California’s Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which prohibits debt collectors from engaging in certain unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the collection of consumer debts. His contributions to the success of the Firm and the joys of our Manatt community are countless. Michael was always genuine and true, whether with clients, colleagues or the many attorneys through the years whom he mentored and supported. He was truly a life force, and we will miss him so very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many who loved and appreciated Michael for the truly special person that he was.
