This incredible image was shared by a family living in the yellow section, and it tells an important story. This mangrove shoreline saved their home from devastating storm surge and flooding during Hurricane Milton. This is Charlotte Harbor, and while all the homes in the yellow section stayed dry, the homes in white weren’t as lucky. The map may not be perfect, but it’s a clear reminder of just how essential it is to keep mangroves thriving along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Mangroves acted as their first line of defense, protecting them from the worst of the storm. This is exactly why we’re fighting to restore and protect these vital ecosystems—because they make all the difference when it matters most. 💪🌎🌱#mangroves #nature #mangstrong #manggesr #buyoneplantone

We hate to see this happening so soon after Hurricane Helene’s impact. Hurricane Milton is shaping up to be a serious storm for South Florida. We’re here to support our community and want to remind everyone to take all evacuation orders seriously. Storm surge can be life-threatening, so please take every precaution necessary. We’ll be keeping all Floridians in our thoughts and prayers—stay safe out there! 🌎🌱 #manggear #mangroves #resilientcoastlines

🌱 New Growth & Hope at the MANG Farm 🌱 It’s hard to watch the devastation from Hurricane Helene across social media. We are among the lucky ones with no damage, and our hearts go out to the families and communities deeply impacted all over the Southeast. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, and the road to recovery will be long. If you’re able to lend a hand, please do—every small effort makes a difference. These new mangroves at the MANG Farm will one day help protect our coastlines from future storms. As hurricanes continue to become more frequent and intense, building resilient communities and restoring natural defenses is more critical than ever. #MANGgear #Mangroves #NewGrowth

🌍 Last month, we planted 100 Red Mangroves in Everglades National Park at the future site of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Visitor Center, and so far, the project has a 98% success rate! 🌱 This effort involved building a living shoreline behind an old seawall by opening it up and grading a natural, sloping shoreline to the perfect elevation. It shows us how we can turn hardened shorelines back into thriving ecosystems. Right now, we’re crossing our fingers as Hurricane Helene passes by. Storm surges can be tough on newly planted projects, which is why we aim to plant in the off-season. But if this test continues to succeed, it could be a huge step toward demonstrating how hardened shorelines can become flourishing habitats of the future. 💪🌱 #MANGgear #MangroveRestoration #EvergladesNationalPark #CoastalRestoration #BuyOnePlantOne

🌱 2020 was one for the books; like everyone else, we faced some major curveballs. But it also reminded us how resilient and adaptable we can be when we stay focused on what matters most: restoring and protecting our coastal ecosystems. One of the year's biggest highlights was our project at Tarpon Cove in partnership with the incredible team at Palm Beach County Environmental Resource Management. These man-made islands have already become critical habitats for endangered species like the American oystercatcher and black skimmer birds. Not only that, but they've also created safe nursery grounds for juvenile fish, helping to protect and nurture future generations of marine life. 🌎🌱 Then, the pandemic hit, and everything changed. With COVID forcing us to cancel all our tradeshows, which were a huge part of how we kept MANG running—we had to make a quick pivot. And when we say quick, we mean it! We shifted our focus online, and our MANG community came through. You all showed up in ways we never expected, keeping our mission alive and thriving when we needed it most. By the end of 2020, we launched our Bahamas Restoration Initiative with Bonefish Tarpon Trust, Friends of the Environment, and Bahamas National Trust, continuing our mission to expand restoration efforts beyond Florida's shores. Check out the pictures of us loading up Florida mangroves into a Tropic shipping container to give them a new home in the Bahamas! We shipped 7,500 mangrove seedlings and 20,000 propagules to kickstart restoration in the Bahamas following the impacts of Hurricane Dorian the year before. It wasn't an easy year, but it proved that we can face any challenge head-on together and come out stronger. 💪 Every project, every pivot, and every mangrove planted reminded us why we do what we do. We're in this for the long haul—to protect and restore these vital ecosystems for generations to come.

2019 was a whirlwind. We challenged ourselves to do the unthinkable—partnering with 12 different nonprofits, launching 12 separate collections, attending 29 tradeshows, and hosting 20 Nursery, Education, and Restoration days. All of that with just 3 weekends off. From the outside, it looked like success, but it came at a cost: 100+ hour work weeks, a non-existent social life, and immense stress on both body and mind. 🌎🌱 Every entrepreneur experiences a year like 2019 was for us. To succeed, you must be prepared to do what most will not. It’s not a journey where you suddenly "make it" and everything coasts—it’s a constant grind with challenges that pop up every single day. By the end of 2019, we felt the full weight of burnout. Yet, even in the most challenging moments, we planted Big Bertha—our finest mangrove specimen, donated by a member of the West Palm Beach Fishing Club. Bertha grew on our farm for a year before making her debut in the wild. But it wasn’t all wins—we had epic failures too. One of our restoration projects experienced 100% mortality, with all 400 mangroves dying. From that failure, we learned an important lesson: slight changes in elevation make all the difference—just like slight changes in effort, grit, and a little bit of faith can open doors. Not everything is in your control, but you can always work hard, stay open-minded, and believe in yourself. With a small but mighty team, we focused on building lasting relationships and amplifying the stories of other organizations making an impact across Florida. Despite the challenges, we knew that what we were doing mattered—and that’s what kept us going. 2019 tested us on all fronts, but we pushed through with momentum, which prepared us for the firestorm that was to come in 2020. #MANGgear #MangroveRestoration #Mangroves #Nature 🌎🌱

At the end of 2018, we faced our biggest challenge yet! Thanks to the incredible support of the MANG community, we sold so many products that we needed to find a way to plant more mangroves! 🌍🌱 This challenge sparked the launch of our largest international restoration project in Ambonia, Madagascar. By the close of the year, we had planted 25,000 mangroves and set our sights on an even bigger goal: planting 100,000 mangroves in 2019. The journey ahead was exciting, and we knew that with the continued support of our amazing community, we could make it happen. 🌱 Over the next five years, we partnered with a nonprofit and the local community to plant 400,000 mangroves across 145 acres. This effort didn't just benefit the environment—it also provided stable income for 53 people, creating lasting change on both fronts. 🙌🌎🌱 They planted four types of mangroves: Grey Mangrove (Avicennia marina) Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) Spurred Mangrove (Ceriops tagal) Large-leafed Orange Mangrove (Bruguiera gymnorrhiza) Other notable accomplishments during this time included building a new website, increasing the size of the MANG shack, seeing more retailers carry our gear in local shops, and expanding our local restoration projects through community partnerships. Looking back, it's incredible how much we accomplished in 2018. If you believe in something, pursue it—you'll never look back and regret trying your hardest to make that dream come true. Every setback is just an opportunity in disguise. Because of your support, we restored coastal ecosystems and uplifted communities together. This journey proved that even the most significant challenges can lead to the most rewarding outcomes. #MangroveRestoration #MANGgear #Mangroves #SupportingCommunities #HabitatCreation

In 2017, we dove into MANG full-time for the first time. Like every classic entrepreneur, we set up shop in MAMA Mang's two-car garage, grinding out long days and nights. That year, we hit the road for over 25 weeks, setting up the original homemade MANG shack and watching it evolve with every stop. We can still remember brainstorming how we could stand out at festivals in a sea of white tents, and that's how the MANG shack was born. A 1,000-pound reclaimed wood structure that gave us the edge we needed to put ourselves out there. The shack was a labor of love, from its construction to the three-hour setups and teardowns at each event. 🌎🌱 That in-person hustle helped us build real connections. We met customers, collected email information, and shared our passion for protecting estuaries and mangrove ecosystems face-to-face—long before the big boom of mangroves and carbon credits. At the same time, we were building our online store, learning how to run ads, and shaping the brand. On our weeks off, we hosted educational events and planting sessions. This was the real test of our grit and determination. A few snook may have been caught here and there. 🎣 The countdown continues... we're just 7 days away from MANG's big birthday! #MANGTurns9 #MANG #BuyOnePlantOne #MangroveRestoration #MANGCommunity

In just 8 days, we're celebrating 9 incredible years in business! Did you know the idea for MANG started with two fishing buddies? Co-founder Kyle and his friend Chuck used to hang out along the mangrove shorelines at FGCU's Vestor Marine Lab after class, brainstorming a concept for Mangroflage—a camouflage design to help fishermen blend in while sight casting. 🌱🎣 Those shoreline talks sparked something bigger. Kyle quickly brought in his twin brother Keith, their friend Tommy, Mama MANG, and the talented Aunt Sheri. Together, they turned that idea into the brand we all know today. After many roundtable discussions about what giving back really means, we drew inspiration from TOMS Shoes' one-for-one model and developed our Buy One. Plant One. Initiative—where every product sold helps plant a mangrove. 🌱 Keith, aka "Mr. Green Thumb," began growing mangroves on an old abandoned tennis court in Mama MANG's backyard, and that's where the journey truly began. Kyle sketched the first logo, Keith and Tommy designed the iconic trileaf, while Keith, Mama MANG and Sheri brought the vision to life with the first OG MANG trileaf and Snook Predator designs, featuring mangrove roots through them. This connected our vision of how mangroves support the fisheries that we love. 🌎🌱🐟 Kyle didn't waste any time—he sold our first hats to the FGCU fishing club, and the rest is history! One of our biggest challenges in 2016 was finding places to plant mangroves. But after a few calls to local municipalities, Kyle secured our first community-based project. While we faced some early challenges with mangrove survivorship, we worked closely with the county to find solutions, and now we can proudly say those mangroves are thriving. #MANGTurns9 #Mangroflage #BuyOnePlantOne #MangroveRestoration #MANGCommunity #MANGgear
