You. 🫵 You have 2 dawgs inside you. A creator. And a marketer. The first, whose passion for MAKING pushes you to share your UNYIELDING, UNDYING love for a thing or an idea with the entire world. It's scary, but you do it. You look for a connection, a community. And, boldly, if you don't find one, you build one for yourself. The second dawg? It hustles. It knows to turn that wild love into something bigger — an audience, a brand, a business, a life — it has to do more. It's probably not shocking that most official "marketers" begin as creators. We get into marketing thinking that it's mostly making stuff. We come in, ready to take big swings. Then, some salty coworker named Yancy, says, "Maybe cool it down a bit?" and a brilliant idea, one that we bring to the room with all the fire, with all the initial passion of our Creator Dawg, is snuffed out. One too many times, this happens. Then, we become shy with our love. We make passionless stuff, shrugging. "It's not worth the fight." At Manychat, we have discovered we are a team of creators, who in past jobs, yearned to show the world what we love. We are just a little bit more stubborn than the rest. 💅 So, last month, we went rogue. We started Chronically Online and asked our lovely LinkedIn team here if we can share it here once a month. (No shock that they let us in: They're secretly creators too) Our 1st round, more than 2,000 folks subscribed. We were absolutely bowled over to see that response. To know that so many people were interested so early? Man. It was such a relief. So this month, we went even harder —  fittingly.... Writer Bobby Hilliard, in "Creators In the Headlights," talks about what happens when the light of a talented group of creators, in this case Donut Media, is snuffed out by corporate interests. Dustin Dooling ran an official survey to ask creators more than 20 questions about their mental health struggles — do they feel constant pressure to act in an idealized way? do they feel responsible for their fans' happiness? — and (spoiler alert)... stress is a vibe. And Nick Gaudio writes about what happens to one's financial and career prospects after you go mega-viral (shockingly, it doesn't take long for fame to become nonfame). These are projects that drip with passion. We think you can see it in the writing and design. All this to say: It's not your pappy's corporate content. And we are super proud of it. So... now, we need your help. We realize to get anything like this off the ground, we need a community of like-minded folks behind it, all willing to say, "Ya know what?
