Apparently the average human takes around #fiveyears to build their first map. I’m intrigued. Second time Wardley Mapping (thanks for the invite Simon Wardley), this time exploring the future of work. Some thoughts: 1. You're now an outlier if you don't expect AGI within a generation. 2. Hyperautomation likely depends on training data that doesn't exist - and no one knows how to get it. 3. It's impossible to separate the work you do from the workspace you're in. 4. What values mean when dealing with smaller and smaller organisations is hard to predict (Sam Altman has a bet on when the first 1-person unicorn will happen - https://lnkd.in/eWBiJYr8). 5. If you want to make God and/or AI laugh, make career plans past 2035. Some thoughts on Wardley mapping: 1. If you're not very familiar with Wardley Mapping good mappers (thanks Domenico Fumagalli and Sarah Clarke) who can act as facilitators, mappers, scribes, oracles etc really help. 2. The tools (Zoom / Miro / OnlineWardleyMaps) create friction, and we probably should have tried Mapkeep.

It’s been 9 years since I started to learn Wardley Mapping. If you’ve followed me since the beginning, then you know I love to share about changes in the practice. (And plenty has changed!) But every once in a while I like to share what’s happening with the tools, too. My first ever post about Wardley Mapping tools was in 2017, and at the beginning I mused about a paradox: On the one hand, the tools matter! They can make things easier, shorten the learning curve, and make you more effective. On the other hand, the tools don’t matter at all! After all, you just need pencil and paper, right? As you read this post, I hope you can keep in mind the spirit of that paradox as I propose these top 5 Wardley Mapping tools for 2024. https://lnkd.in/e23-7g-g
