Our incredible Stephen Morrison, Aboriginal Cultural Practice & Capability Manager, recently spoke at the Transforming Indigenous Justice Outcomes Conference in Sydney. Stephen presented our Men's Bush Trip and Good Way Program's, demonstrating how he works with our men and service providers on the Goldfields. His topic was, “Preventing & interrupting harmful patterns of behaviour with men who use violence: Breaking cycles of incarceration, violence & abuse”. Stephen received great feedback from the event organisers, and was able to touch on really important topics that need to be spoken about. Well done Stephen, the team at HOPE are so proud of all of your achievements. #Hope #CommunitySupport #CommunityServices #mensbushtrip #menshealthmatters #HumansOfHope

Laverton Men's Bush Trip. This week Stephen and the men cooked up at Paakanu and spoke about the upcoming World Suicide Prevention week. They also yarned about Sexual health and the importance of encouraging men to go to the GP or clinic if concerned - which lead into discussions about how we can target youth and younger people with Sexual Health education. There was also a request to have a 1-2 day Men's Camp in Laverton so that the guys can really get into deep discussions about Men's Health and Suicide Prevention and how we can educate our younger people on such topics. Refugee Week 2024! Each year, Refugee Week celebrates the diverse stories, journeys and contributions of refugees in Australia. This year, the theme is Finding Freedom, and we're shining a spotlight on families. From the families we're born into to the ones we choose along the way, it's these relationships that give shape to who we are, and give us the courage, conviction and freedom to truly be ourselves. #RefugeeWeekAU #RefugeeWeek2024 #RefugeeWeek#HopeCommunityServices

The recent violence against women in WA has left all of us devastated. While it is women who are pushing for change, we know everyday blokes are just as disgusted, horrified, angry and at a loss to explain why this continues to happen. We need everyday blokes to become more visible and more active in preventing family and domestic violence. Tucker Christou, Manager Service Operations at HOPE, offers five ways that everyday blokes can get involved.
