Jared Beard, the Human Services Department's Assistant Director for Workforce Development, was chosen as the Keynote Speaker at the Phoenix Job Corps graduation on August 22. Job Corps provides free career training and education in 10 industries for low-income 16–24-year-olds to get the experience they need, begin an apprenticeship, go on to college, or join the military.

The Workforce 2 You pilot program, bringing accelerated career opportunities to rural areas of Maricopa County, concluded this month after providing in-person training to over 50 residents of Gila Bend, Queen Creek, and Wickenburg. These participants are working towards an industry recognized credential as a Medical Coder and Biller, Medical Administrative Assistant, or both. After, our Workforce Development team will work to place each program graduate with partner employers.

Thanks to a grant from the Governor's Office, ARIZONA@WORK Maricopa County launched the "Workforce 2 You" pilot program, offering no-cost training programs in the rural communities of Gila Bend, Wickenburg, and Queen Creek. In partnership with Maricopa Corporate College, the 10-12 week programs provide training for in-demand careers, allowing participants to learn new skills without traveling far into the Phoenix metro area. ▶ Watch the video to learn more about the Workforce 2 You Medical Coding program currently underway in Gila Bend.
