Release v0.9.0 🚀 marimo is a reinvention of the Python notebook, designed specifically for working with data — stored as Python, executable as scripts, and deployable as apps. All with no hidden state, because notebooks are modeled as DAGs. Our latest release brings notebooks further into the future: - create chat interfaces with custom logic or off-the-shelf models - cache computations across notebook runs so your notebooks start instantly - generate code with AI in a data-aware way Check out our release blog for more: https://lnkd.in/gyuPmuft

marimo meets Hugging Face spaces: https://lnkd.in/gnxFh_b3 As Akshay points out: edit sessions will support multiplayer mode in the future, but now only allow a single user, which is why you may see "Another browser tab is already connected to the kernel". If you're eager to try it out, hit ... -> Duplicate this Space, or open the file browser on the top left and navigate to another file in marimo_tutorials built with puppy (pixi + uv wrapper) https://lnkd.in/gwsQFHEX Most gratifyingly, file browser works as expected! Marimo's backend is FastAPI, which should make it possible to mount a multi-app environment all on the same route (pssst! with a generous free tier, too). Not sure yet what could possibly be built, but should be an interesting complement to other things you can deploy at HFS. Thoughts?

💡Tuesday Tip! Convert Jupyter notebooks to marimo notebooks in one line with our CLI: marimo convert notebook.ipynb > notebook.py This lets you run your notebook in the marimo editor, leveling up your notebook with tons of features. For example, marimo automatically makes your dataframe outputs filterable and searchable.

I’ve just shared my 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 (𝐄𝐃𝐀) of the Goodreads dataset using marimo, a reactive Python notebook framework; the first notebook in the 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐨-𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 with more to come. 𝐾𝑒𝑦 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑠: • Identified user rating patterns • Analyzed book characteristics • Explored relationships between features These insights can help in developing a recommendation system based on user preferences, book popularity, and genre trends. View the notebook: • marimo cloud: https://lnkd.in/d9nWTtZB • GitHub: https://lnkd.in/daVNVdb3 This is the 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 in a series of marimo tutorials I'm developing. 🚀 0.8.20 is out! This release adds a package manager panel to the marimo editor 📦 Add and remove packages, and view your entire environment at a glance. If you're using `--sandbox` (powered by Astral's package manager uv), modifications to your environment are saved to your script's metadata. When you opt-in to marimo's package sandbox, your notebook is a self-contained file that encapsulates its own package requirements. Learn more about this feature at our blog: https://lnkd.in/gJ95ZuNU. As a reminder, marimo is free and open source. Get started at our GitHub repo: https://lnkd.in/dF-M5_z8.

Today, I built a widget that embeds flow diagrams into marimo Python notebooks, and now I’m looking for real-world use cases (data pipelines, ML workflows, network simulations, etc). What kind of interactive flow diagrams would you like to explore in Python? I’d love to hear your ideas! The project is open-source and free to use: https://lnkd.in/ebfdX2Ny (Based on #anywidget by Trevor Manz and xyflow · React Flow · Svelte Flow)
