Medal Monday It was great to team up with Marines across the Marine Corps Information Command Enterprise to complete the 49th United States Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, VA, and the nation's capital. The weather, crowds, and sights in D.C. were amazing! I even had a few reunions along the course. A few of us donned our medals today for a quick #MedalMonday snap. Recently, the Remcos RAT was found being distributed through fake websites5. Ensuring up-to-date antivirus software and practicing safe browsing habits are key defenses against RATs. Keep your software updated and be cautious of suspicious websites and downloads. Backdoors are covert methods of bypassing normal authentication or encryption in a computer system, allowing unauthorized access to data. These vulnerabilities can be intentionally created by developers or introduced by malicious actors. For example, a backdoor was recently discovered in the xz Utils compression tool, which could have compromised numerous Linux systems2. Identifying and closing backdoors is essential to safeguard our networks from unauthorized intrusions. Regularly audit your systems for potential backdoors and ensure all software is up-to-date.
