Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is the state chartered economic development corporation for the City of Marlborough, MA and represents a public-private partnership for planning. It works with municipal and private investors to foster economic development, job growth and community revitalization and expansion in the city. Its mission is to provide vision and advocacy for the smart development of the city, in order to enhance the community’s quality of life through balanced economic, housing, and cultural development. MEDC works towards strengthening partnerships with all levels of government, businesses and organizations across the region for the purpose of maximizing civic, social and economic growth opportunities for the City. Working with numerous state and regional planning organizations, MEDC strives to attract large-scale investment from industries such as high technology, renewable energy, life sciences, and national security/defense. MEDC is recognized as one of the Commonwealth’s most aggressive, visible and effective promoters of local economic development.

🕯 We recently presented Vibes Candles with its Toolbox Grant Award from the Amenities Financing Program. New and expanding Marlborough businesses who qualify for this program can receive rent and equipment expense reimbursement. The grant helped shop owner and creator, Lex Dascoli, take her hand-poured candle business from her home and the Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops to opening her own storefront on Main Street! Episode 44 | Learning About MetroWest Tourism with Stacey David We'll be getting to know Stacey David, Executive Director of the MetroWest Boston Visitors Bureau (MBVB) for Episode 44 of Exploring Economic Development with MEDC. As the Regional Tourism Council for our area, we'll look into ways that MBVB markets destinations such as the City of Marlborough, the businesses and recreational assets here, and how they work with the Commonwealth to keep us all on the map for visitors far and near.

🔋 In 2022, existing startup scietific research and product development company, XL Batteries, signed a 10-year lease and moved their startup to #Marlborough after calling Brooklyn, NY home for 3 years. This move allowed them to expand, bring new jobs to the city, and invest in their new location on Locke Drive. MEDC supported them through our Small Business Incentive Program which allowed for reimbursements over a period of two years.
