Ashton’s journey to walking independently 💪 He’s been with Marshall Pediatric Therapy since he was an infant. He started seeing Miss Julia for Physical Therapy in September of 2023. When they first started, Ashton was unable to stand without heavy support. They started with aquatic therapy, where the water helped him build strength and confidence to stand up on his own, which was a huge milestone. As we started to look for ways to get him walking, the initial gait trainer proved challenging, and walking was still difficult. That’s when we tried the Mustang gait trainer, which allowed him to use his steps more effectively and move forward. It was a game-changer! Ashton’s progress is a testament to the power of physical therapy and the dedication of his therapists and family. "The main course gave great information on identifying sensory-motor problems that impact both feeding and speech for children diagnosed with developmental disorders. It also provided training on treatment techniques to be used in therapy as well as techniques for parents and caregivers. The other courses focused on supports for anxious eaters at mealtimes, attachment, and infant feeding, and deeper information on supporting feeding and swallowing for children with Down Syndrome. I’m excited to use this information to help my families feel confident and empowered with mealtime!"
