  • Mayor, Lois TeStrake issued a proclamation designating the week of Oct. 6-12, 2024, as Public Power Week! The Proclamation reads: Whereas, we the citizens of Marshfield, place a high value on local choice over community services and, therefore, have chosen to operate a community-owned, not-for-profit electric utility and, as customers and owners of our electric utility, have a direct say in utility operations and policies; and Whereas, Marshfield Utilities provides our homes, businesses, schools, and social service and local government agencies with reliable, efficient, and safe electricity employing sound business practices designed to ensure the best possible service at not-for-profit rates; and Whereas, Marshfield Utilities is a valuable community asset that contributes to the well-being of local citizens through energy efficiency, customer service, environmental protection, economic development, safety awareness; and Whereas, Marshfield Utilities is a dependable and trustworthy institution whose local operation provides many consumer protections, continues to make our community a better place to live and work, and contributes to protecting the global environment; and Now, Therefore be it resolved: that Marshfield Utilities will continue to work to bring low-cost, safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity (and other services) to community homes and businesses just as it has since 1904, the year when the City of Marshfield purchased the utility to serve all the citizens of Marshfield. Be it further resolved: that the week of Oct. 6-12, 2024, be designated Public Power Week to recognize the immense sense of pride in Marshfield Utilities and their contributions to the community and to educate customers, policymakers, and employees on the benefits of public power; and Be it further resolved: that our community joins hands with approximately 2,000 other public power systems in the United States in this celebration of public power, which puts our residents, businesses, and the community before profits. Thank you Mayer TeStrake for recognizing the hard work and dedication of the Marshfield Utilities team! #MarshfieldUtilities #PublicPower

  • MU staff came through with over $300 in items for donations for those recovering from Hurricane Helene. Our donation was dropped off at Hiller's True Value with Giving Back Inc. These items will be going to North Carolina to be distributed where most needed. The Marshfield Community is stepping up with a great show of support. There was a steady stream of people dropping things off when we were there. Donations can be dropped off today, 10/8, until 7 p.m. #MarshfieldUtilities #ComMUnityCareProject

  • Today, we hosted 140 8th-grade students from Marshfield and Auburndale as part of the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance Heavy Metal Tours. Students got the opportunity to try hands-on activities such as fixing a main break, replacing a fuse, putting an insulator sleeve on a line, and using remote control equipment to lift a transformer from one target to another. #MarshfieldUtilities #HeavyMetalTour #trades #CareerExploration
