Governor Wes Moore named Linda H. Lamone of Anne Arundel County and Saad Malik of Baltimore County as MLSC board members. Ms. Lamone received her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law and served as an Assistant Attorney General, as Special Counsel to the Lt. Governor of Maryland, and in private law practice. She was appointed State Administrator of Elections in 1997, where she served for 25 years, before retiring in 2023. Ms. Lamone served on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s Advisory Board and Technical Guidelines Development Committee and the Executive Committee of the National Association of State Election Directors. She was a member of the Department of Homeland Security Government Coordinating Council and the Maryland Cybersecurity Council. Saad Malik is an attorney in Gordon Feinblatt LLC’s Business, Energy and Environmental, and Real Estate practice groups and serves as chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Prior to his appointment to MLSC’s board, Saad served as a board member for the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Service. He received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his undergraduate degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County. Saad currently resides in Baltimore County with his wife and daughter.

MLSC FY25 Grant Information Webinar - January 25, 2024 @ 10:00 am Maryland Legal Services Corporation will hold an informational webinar regarding FY25 funding opportunities on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 10:00 am. The webinar will cover general funding policies and priorities, the grant application process and the forecast for MLSC’s FY25 funding level. We anticipate the webinar will take an hour or less. Nonprofit organizations interested in continuing or seeking funding from MLSC for civil legal services for low-income Marylanders for fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) must submit an application no later than Wednesday, March 15, 2024. In November, MLSC presented awards to seven individuals or organizations, recognizing significant contributions to civil legal services and access to justice for low-income Marylanders.

Request for Proposals - Tenant Outreach & Education, Access to Counsel in Evictions https://lnkd.in/ecMyhPNr Through the passage of House Bill 18 during the 2021 legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly named MLSC the administrator of the new Access to Counsel in Evictions Program. MLSC seeks proposals for tenant outreach and education services across Maryland. Please submit proposals by December 15, 2023 to Karen Wabeke at ace@mlsc.org. MLSC seeks proposals from nonprofit community groups to provide tenant outreach and education services in all 23 counties in Maryland and Baltimore City beginning in January 2024. This round of funding will cover January 2024 through December 2024.
