Excited to see our latest collaboration with the team at RIOS come together for Vrbo’s new Austin headquarters! Understanding the innate culture of a company and crafting its workspaces around it is no small feat. At Vrbo, teams had a unique spark of conducting quick, impromptu meetings without the constraints of traditional conference rooms. MASHstudios built custom collaboration tables, enabling both seated and standing meetings with seamlessly integrated technology for video conferences. 🖥️🤝 And for teams desiring that enclosed space, quick access to private meeting rooms ensures the rhythm of creativity never halts. Spanning a massive 315,000 sq ft, this workspace was meticulously laid out by RIOS using a data-driven approach to mirror how Vrbo’s collaboration ethos and daily routines unfurl in the programmed and experiential spaces. The sheer brilliance of RIOS's design is in the way it narrates Vrbo's story, amplifying the science behind their experiences. In an era where work can happen from anywhere, it is invigorating to see spaces designed that prioritize human connection and collaboration.
Our attuned approach to workplace strategy tailors the design to a company’s goals and culture, resulting in unique environments that bring people together when work can happen anywhere. For our design of Vrbo’s Austin headquarters, this meant conducting research on how, where, and when employees worked to align the design with the company’s collaborative, people-first culture. The last phase of the design, which adds open office space and flexible collaboration and social spaces to levels 15 through 16, will open for occupancy next week. Last weekend, we hosted the IIDA Southern California Chapter Haunt Couture Garment Creation and Reveal Day! Haunt Couture is an annual extravaganza that seamlessly melds fashion, design, and architecture. The focus on human-centered design was paramount, creating a residential environment where every team member could thrive. We collaborated with Scala to create custom office furniture that supports productivity while offering choice - from private offices to meeting tables, it is all about accommodating workstyles and fostering collaboration. #InteriorDesign #Collaboration #WorkspaceDesign
These are the client teams that designers dream about. Vance Street Capital signed a lease for a move-in-ready space in a historic building in the Pacific Palisades and determined the importance of bringing on a design team to add their own mark on it. Scala worked closely with them to permit a few changes architecturally, but our primary focus was on the human centered design elements of how their team feels in the space. They really wanted to create an environment where their team has a wide range of choice in where and how they work when they are in the office. So rather than fill it with workstations, we softened the layout with different options including working lounges and long family style tables for people to work together. Additionally, we designed a special bonus space we’ve named the Vault, where their team comes together to pitch for a project or drink beers while watching the game. Scala sourced plants and accessories from local shops in the Palisades, curating the space with a mix of obscure art pieces all the way down to fun chachkies.
