About us
The Massachusetts Association of Community Action’s 23 private, non-profit human service and advocacy organizations work to administer key anti-poverty programs in every city and town in the Commonwealth. These organizations serve approximately 600,000 low-income people annually, more than half of them with incomes below 125% of the federal poverty level. For more than 50 years, Community Action Agencies have been on the front lines of addressing poverty -- administering federal programs, federal community services and community development grants, and state funds. CAAs are economic engines in cities and towns across Massachusetts, providing communities with an annual infusion of over $500 million in total resources. CAAs generate at least twice that amount helping clients become economically stable and mobile. Our mission is to strengthen, unify, and advocate with the Community Action Statewide Network to advance economic, racial, and social justice and to create communities where everyone thrives. Our vision is that all MA residents will prosper and thrive through equitable opportunity and resources to meet their basic needs, enjoy economic mobility, and build strong and inclusive communities. The Community Action Network is strong and effective, known for its valuable work and excellent service delivery, and is an advocate and leading voice in the fight to end poverty and inequality.

We are proud to be a part of this coalition continuing to advocate for a more equitable tax code through increased #VITA funding!
Yesterday, the Healthy Families Tax Credits Coalition and MA Black and Latino Legislative Caucus hosted a briefing at the Massachusetts State House to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit - the most effective tool against poverty for working families - and to advocate for a more equitable for all workers, families, children, and taxpaying immigrants in the state. Attendees heard from legislators, advocates, families, and volunteer tax preparers from the VITA program about the impact of expanding the #EITC to #ITIN filers and increasing funding for the #VITA program, which helps low-income families access the tax credits they're eligible for. Thank you to everyone who came to the event, and we are excited to continue to advocate for a more equitable tax code in Massachusetts! Read more about the event on Local 22: https://lnkd.in/eWeZw-Zi
