#CharterFactFriday All students benefit when they have access to teachers of color, but this is especially true for minority children. For students of color to thrive in the classroom, they need to see themselves represented in their teachers and role models. Charter public schools are diversifying the educator workforce, ensuring that all students encounter teachers and mentors who understand and validate their experiences. Students in MA charter public schools are 3X more likely to have an educator of color than

About us
The Massachusetts Charter Public School Association (MCPSA) is a school membership organization that is committed to ensuring that all children and families across the Commonwealth have access to high-quality public schools. As the voice of one of the nation’s highest-performing charter public school sectors, MCPSA engages in public policy advocacy, communications, and best practice sharing and training aimed at strengthening educational programming. MCPSA’s mission is to create and protect the conditions that will enable the charter public school sector to thrive, and advance the larger goal of ensuring all Massachusetts children and families have equitable access to high-quality schools. To achieve our mission, MCPSA advocates for public policy that supports equitable educational opportunities and supports member schools across Massachusetts; provides best practice sharing and professional development for leaders, educators, and board members to support strong educational practices, governance, and advocacy engagement; and amplifies the stories and voices of the charter public school community. Since its inception, the K-12 public education system has been utilized as a tool to advance and protect systemic racism. From withholding education from enslaved peoples, to separate and unequal segregated schools, to the use of local property taxes and manipulated municipal boundaries as the basis for public education funding, systemic racism has and continues to impact children’s K-12 educational opportunities. MCPSA will work to build a more just and equitable K-12 public education system in Massachusetts — in short, one in which every child receives a high-quality public education that enables them to thrive and to reach their full potential.

What more could a mother ask of a school? "My son has learned responsibility, politeness, kindness and friendliness." #AbbyKellyFoster #InternationalYouthDay #EdThatAddsUp

#CharterFactFriday In Massachusetts, demand for charter public schools has been strong since they first opened in 1995. The best public education systems support all students reaching their full potential, and charter public schools are part of the formula that has given Massachusetts the top-performing public school system in the country. Polling shows that Massachusetts voters believe parents should decide which public school will best serve the unique needs of their children, whether that be district, vocational or charter public schools. Our charter public schools strive to deliver on their commitment to every student! #EdThatAddsUp

“My son is thriving, looks forward to school, and has fallen in love with learning. Springfield Prep has instilled in him the values of integrity, leadership, and self-esteem. It's evident that the school is cultivating scholars with a strong sense of self and preparing them for their futures.” --Parent @springfieldprep

In exchange for more flexibility, charter public schools must meet high accountability standards to various stakeholders — education and public officials, teachers, families, and communities. 🏫🌟 With the freedom to innovate curricula, charter public schools excel while adhering to state-set standards. In a world where one size doesn't fit all, charter public schools in MA offer an education that adds up. They inspire a new narrative where students are empowered, educators are innovative, and communities are invested in shaping the future of education. 🌎✏️ #EdThatAddsUp

#CharterFactFriday is back! 💡🧠#DYK: Massachusetts charter public schools play an essential role in serving historically underserved and high-needs students. Statewide data show that charter public schools enroll a higher percentage of high-needs students* than district public schools statewide. *Student population data from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s School and District Profiles from SY 2022-2023 for all Commonwealth charter public schools #EdThatAddsUp

Charter public schools are an integral part of their communities. The chef at @mvcharterpublicschool recently participated in a panel about the importance of local foods contributing to sustainability on the Vineyard. “When we feel connected to the land and the food system, we feel happy as humans,” Ms. Carnie said. https://lnkd.in/epiV4PHY

With tutors hard to come by, a new study shows technology makes effective tutoring more accessible to students. The tech firm driving this innovation was co-founded by AJ Gutierrez, a graduate of Match Education which has leveraged high dose tutoring to improve student outcomes since its founding over 20 years ago. https://lnkd.in/d-Fid-2A
