PREPARING, CONNECTING, AND SERVING TO BUILD A BETTER SAN ANTONIO

About us

Mission Statement: "The Masters Leadership Program provides proven leaders with a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the issues and needs in Greater San Antonio, while securing their commitment to serve the community through board service and volunteerism." The Masters Leadership Program (MLP) prepares seasoned executives to use their expertise and experience for the betterment of Greater San Antonio through nonprofit and civic board service and volunteerism.

Founded by Jane Phipps in 2004 under the umbrella of the United Way, MLP is an intensive, 13-day program spread over six months, immersing executives in the key topics of interest for Bexar County. It features field trips and speakers who are experts in their sectors. More than 600 community leaders have graduated from the program, assisting over 300 nonprofits, public agencies and organizations in numerous leadership positions.
The approximately 50 people selected for the training each year are proven leaders in their fields of endeavor who are retired, semi-retired or nearing the end of full-time employment.
