  • Reflecting on a powerful July moment as we marked the 10th anniversary of the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. 🌟 Marie Menard, with the proclamation from Governor Healy, stands as a testament to our collective efforts and advocacy. Surrounded by our dedicated Matahari team and members, this event was a celebration of our progress and a reminder of the work still ahead. • A few months ago, we launched Reel Activism with our Healing Justice Committee, and it’s been a powerful experience! Our first event featured Shirley, showcasing Shirley Chisholm’s pioneering 1972 presidential campaign. We engaged in insightful discussions about her impact, the barriers faced by women of color in leadership, and how her legacy inspires us to advocate for greater representation. If you know restaurant workers, domestic workers, or anyone passionate about social change who would benefit from engaging in these meaningful conversations, please share this information with them. We’re eager to build a diverse and supportive community. #ReelActivism #HealingJustice #Leadership #SocialChange #CommunityEngagement

  • Join us on TONIGHT for an important discussion hosted by the Massachusetts Coalition of Domestic Workers and the National Domestic Workers Alliance Workers Alliance, featuring a special guest from the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office . We’ll be diving into Deferred Action for Labor Enforcement—a temporary, four-year protection from deportation and work authorization for immigrant workers who have faced or witnessed labor violations. These protections were hard-won by immigrant workers, and it's crucial that domestic workers are included. Interested? Here’s the link to join us: https://lnkd.in/eyM_gF-A Please share with your community!

  • A Wonderful Day of Community Connection at the Resource Fair! This past weekend, Matahari had the pleasure of joining nearly 300+ community members and fellow organizations at the Community Resource Fair, hosted by Mutual Aid East Boston. It was a day filled with music, food, and engaging activities that brought our vibrant community together. We were especially thrilled to connect with local caregivers and nannies, deepening our commitment to supporting working women of color, domestic workers (nannies, house cleaners, and care workers), and restaurant workers across Massachusetts. These connections are at the heart of our work to advocate for dignity and respect for all working women and femmes, both in the workplace and beyond. A big thank you to everyone who made this event a success. We look forward to continuing our collective efforts to uplift and empower our community. #Community #MutualAid #WomenEmpowerment #DomesticWorkers #MatahariJustice

  • At our Femme Workers Rising Up event this past July, Valentina, Erika, Kristina, and Sangya worked tirelessly interpreting between English, Spanish, and Nepali. 🌟A huge shout-out to them and all interpreters out there! 🌟 Language justice is the right to communicate in the language of our tongues, hearts, minds, and dreams. It’s a cornerstone of our organizing model because we believe ending violence and exploitation requires engagement across all cultures and languages. Let’s continue building a movement where everyone’s voice is heard and valued. 💪✨ #LanguageJustice #FemmeWorkersRising #TogetherWeRise
