Thank you to Authority Magazine’s Vanessa Ogle for sharing an interview with our very own Managing Partner, Carrie Thome, CFA. In the interview, Carrie shares more of her story, provides ways to increase female representation in investing roles, and discusses the impact of diversity on the investing landscape. Here’s a taste of the article and 5 things that can lead to women directing more investment dollars in VC: 1. Rethink Track Records: Hire for diverse backgrounds, not just traditional finance paths. The best investors might come from engineering, manufacturing, successful startups, or other overlooked industries and have different experiences. 2. Early Exposure: Introduce young girls to finance and investing careers early, breaking biases and showcasing female success stories to inspire the next generation. 3. Invest in Women: Diversify fund manager selection. At NVNG, we proudly invest in female-run funds and encourage others to do the same. 4. Make the Ask: Women should confidently ask for meetings, mentorship, investments, and feedback. It’s key to growth and success. 5. Diversify Committees: Include more women and diverse voices on investment committees to influence strategies and decisions.
