This national conversation about ended pregnancies opens the door for another long overdue conversation. Is there only one right way to feel about the miscarriage of a hoped-for pregnancy? Is it beneficial to encourage every pregnant person to bond with her expected baby from the moment of conception? This expectation is relatively new historically, and it creates a source of distress and can discourage people from building the families they want. History suggests that we can be open to additional possibilities. https://ow.ly/9UWV50TXBhI

This study explored how prenatal clinicians and pregnant or lactating women interact with cannabis consumption through semi-structured interviews with 23 clinicians and 52 individuals in Canada. Using inductive content analysis, researchers identified three phases of clinical encounters that influenced cannabis-related decision-making: initiating discussions, sense-making, and the outcome of the encounter. The findings suggest a need for nonjudgmental, value-driven counseling on cannabis use during pregnancy and lactation. https://ow.ly/msJW50TXBCS

November is Prematurity Awareness Month 👣💟 Did you know that doula care can have a powerful impact on birth outcomes? New research shows that doula support is linked to fewer cesarean sections, reduced preterm births, and shorter labor times. 🤱🏽 Doulas provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to mothers, making a real difference—especially for those facing health disparities. One study found that patients with doula support were 20% more likely to exclusively breastfeed and had 3-4 fewer preterm births per 100 deliveries. Doula care also led to more successful VBACs, better postpartum care attendance, and improved breastfeeding rates. These benefits were consistent across race and insurance status, highlighting the importance of expanding access to doula care for all families. 🌿✨ 🔗 Learn more about these findings: Study 1: https://lnkd.in/gZNRu9Vk Study 2: https://lnkd.in/gm2X5GJ7 #PrematurityAwarenessMonth #DoulaCare #MaternalHealth #PretermBirthAwareness #MaternalHealthNetwork #MHN

A bipartisan group of senators has proposed a new childcare measure that would expand an assistance program that gives employers a tax credit up to $150,000 to help their employees with kids pay for their care. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) has been pushing legislation to help working families with childcare costs for several years. He’s teamed up with Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) this time around. https://ow.ly/5tBo50TXxzu
