Have you called your Senator yet in support of military moms' maternal mental health? Our Founder and Director of Policy, Jamie Belsito, is in DC right now trying to get the Senate to include military maternal mental health programs into a larger bill that is being decided this week! We need the Senate to hear us loud and clear - they cannot leave military moms out. Maternal mental health matters, and it deserves funding and attention from our government. This is a public health issue. This is a military readiness issue. This is a social justice issue. Help us get this message to your U.S. senators. Take action! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d3RkxTcY

Mental health conditions are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth, impacting at least 1 in 5 women during the perinatal period, with individuals from historically marginalized communities at even higher risk. Approximately 75% of those affected remain untreated. To help health care professionals learn more about these conditions, Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance and CVS Health have curated a database of perinatal mental health trainings. Our user-friendly, searchable database makes it easy to find a training based on your schedule, profession, and topic of interest. Learn more at https://hubs.la/Q02PGHW30.

There's still time to take action! Tell your senators to support military maternal mental health! ➡️ https://hubs.ly/Q02QMbVS0 This policy would bring proven maternal mental health programs into the military healthcare system! Military moms are 2-3 times more likely to experience maternal mental health conditions than civilians. The numbers are even worse for women of color in the military. Congress has the power to DO SOMETHING about this awful disparity. Please help us urge them to TAKE ACTION and not leave military moms out.

Answer the call to help perinatal research! The Mothers & Babies: Mood & Health Research Program at George Washington University is conducting a study. The study is designed to better understand the emotional experiences, coping and resilience resources, and mental health intervention preferences of individuals with histories of perinatal suicidality. Their ultimate goal is to use this information to develop a new intervention to prevent perinatal suicidality. Individuals are eligible to participate if they are: 18 years or older Have experienced perinatal suicidality at least 6 months ago Fluent in English Participation consists of a 20-30 minute online survey. Individuals who complete the survey are also invited to participate in an individual interview with our research staff to share more details about their experiences. If they choose, participants may enter their email address into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. Participate in the study here: https://lnkd.in/eteuW6YG Any questions? Navigating a military career while balancing motherhood can be challenging. The MOMS Act aims to support military mothers in both roles by implementing evidence-based programs proven to prevent maternal mental health conditions, ensuring they can thrive in both their careers and family life. We thank Tiara Flynn for championing this cause and sharing her experience of being a military mom. She also has been a long-time policy advocate with MMHLA.
