It’s one thing to design award-winning spaces—but building an award-winning culture? That’s something we’re especially proud of. Our firm is highlighted in a special digital showcase in the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the Best Places to Work, and we’re thrilled to share a bit of what makes us… us. A blend of creativity, collaboration, and a few (okay, a lot of) espresso shots later, we’ve grown not just in size, but in how we support and challenge one another. Curious to know how we keep pushing the boundaries in both design and workplace culture? Check out our showcase here: https://lnkd.in/eGhMJmpd source=st&utm_medium=en&utm_campaign=me&utm_content=AT

We’re honored that May Architecture has been recognized as a semi-finalist in the Healthcare Design Breaking Through competition for our “healthCORE” concept—an innovative healthcare delivery model that addresses rural healthcare deserts with flexibility, adaptability, and community-centered design. The HealthCORE concept blends modular patient care spaces with rotating, on-demand specialty service pods to meet a community's specific needs at any time. By applying logistical models from industries like aviation and delivery services, it looks to create a solution that’s not only scalable but also affordable. Each HealthCORE facility is designed to be a central hub for health and wellness, built both by and for the community. Hats off to Healthcare Design for hosting a competition that encourages the exploration of innovation in healthcare design. We look forward to learning more today about the other pioneering concepts submitted and celebrating the winners. Heading to the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo in Indianapolis from October 5-8? Be sure to attend the session Feeding Two Birds with One Scone: Addressing the Dearth of MOB Space and the Abundance of Vacant Retail Space. As medical office building occupancy rates rise above 90% in major metropolitan areas, healthcare systems are facing new challenges in expanding outpatient services. In response, a creative solution is taking shape—repurposing vacant retail spaces into healthcare environments that bring care closer to communities while promoting sustainability. Join our healthcare design experts, Emily Marvel and Dawn Mixon Bennett, along with George T. Olmstead, Jr. of Meadows & Ohly, LLC, as they explore how healthcare systems are navigating these shifts and embracing innovation. This session will provide practical insights and fresh perspectives on the future of healthcare spaces. Let’s engage in a meaningful conversation about how design can help solve some of the most urgent issues in healthcare today. Connect with us at the session or during the event. Today’s campus libraries have transformed from traditional resource-filled spaces into dynamic hubs that cater to a wide range of learning styles. Whether it’s individual study pods, collaborative tables, or cozy lounges, these environments are designed to support both focused solo work and interactive group projects. With abundant light and a fresh modern appeal, the revitalized spaces are designed to be more welcoming and engaging. Reservable study rooms equipped with white boards and abundant power outlets enhance in-person collaboration. Comfort is at the forefront—ergonomic furniture, quiet zones with acoustic separation and lighting meant to reduce eye fatigue ensure students can remain focused, comfortable, and energized during long study sessions. With adaptable spaces and flexible design elements, libraries are evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of modern-day students, fostering both productivity and collaboration in environments that truly support academic success. At May Architecture, our Higher Education Practice Group understands the critical role libraries play in shaping the modern campus experience. Our designs reflect a deep appreciation for the sophisticated learning needs of today’s students, creating spaces that inspire and support their academic success. Healthcare innovation comes in many forms, from rethinking spaces to improving care delivery models. This year, we’re honored to be included in Building Design+Construction Media’s Healthcare Annual Report, where the Universal Room concept that we collaboratively developed with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is highlighted for its role in advancing patient-centric care. This design approach is about reimagining the patient journey. By bringing services directly to patients in a private, comfortable room, we aim to enhance both care delivery and the overall patient experience. At May Architecture, we believe that the most impactful advancements come from collaboration, listening to the needs of patients and providers, and anticipating the future of care delivery. Our experts are dedicated to contributing new ideas that will shape the future of healthcare. We are honored to be recognized in this year’s report and excited to continue exploring new ideas and solutions that push the boundaries of healthcare design.
