As we stand up for the many victims of abuse in Maryland’s juvenile services system, our fight is making headlines. And this is just the start. "Everyone should be concerned that this continues to happen and that there are other victims that are currently in this situation," said Je Yon Jung. https://lnkd.in/eH9B-fJk

🚨 Case Update: May Jung Law Firm is proud to announce a significant settlement with the Orange Unified School District, championing the rights of a young Latino-Korean student and advancing fair treatment for students in disciplinary processes. Our client’s experience with the district’s “Student Success Panel” revealed critical issues in due process, transparency, and access for families navigating disciplinary matters—particularly impacting Black and Brown students. This settlement not only provides financial compensation but also mandates essential reforms to the district's disciplinary practices, including: • Written Procedures for disciplinary hearings, ensuring transparency and clear communication with families. • Enhanced Rights to review and present evidence, providing students and families with a fair opportunity to be heard. • Translation Services to improve accessibility for non-English speaking families, promoting equity in participation. As Jessica H. Meeder, Senior Counsel at May Jung, stated, “We sincerely hope that this settlement communicates to OUSD that compliance with the constitution and state law is neither discretionary nor optional. OUSD has an obligation to protect and fairly treat every child it is privileged to educate, and we expect that these systemic changes will help ensure it fulfills that duty.” This case reaffirms our commitment to holding institutions accountable and driving systemic change that protects the most vulnerable. We’re grateful to have been a part of this pivotal step toward justice in education. 💼⚖️ Learn more about the case https://ow.ly/krqH50TXrl0 #StudentRights #EquityInEducation #CivilRights #SystemicChange #MayJungLaw #JusticeForOurPeopleIsPersonal

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to remind everyone that the impact of abuse doesn’t end with the calendar. Recognizing these signs is the first step toward breaking the cycle. QueenAfi founded Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags Organization (DVWMT) in 2008 with the nickname “The School for Domestic Violence Education and Prevention Methods.” DVWMT is a Washington DC non-profit serving as a concerted educational and resource center for helpless victims and abusers of domestic violence. DVWMT is on the personal mission of reversing the familiar cycle and teaching proactive methods of solution-focused ideas and effective prevention. DVWMT is dedicated to restoring and preserving a stable family environment through educational services and prevention methods. Swipe through to learn about the different types of abuse, warning signs, and ways to find help. Transparency is crucial in cases involving police violence. The city of Bay Minette is fighting to keep body cam footage sealed in the wrongful death case of Otis French Jr., claiming it could "intensify vitriol and hate." But as the French family’s legal team, we firmly believe the public has a right to see what happened. There is no credible evidence of harm that would result from releasing this footage, and the law sets a high bar for keeping such evidence hidden. When deadly force is used by law enforcement, transparency is essential to accountability. The public deserves to see the truth. We will continue to fight for justice and transparency for Otis French Jr. and his family. #JusticeForOtisFrenchJR #JusticeForOJ #TransparencyMatters #AccountabilityNow #JusticeForOurPeopleisPersonal https://lnkd.in/emk76ZHp
