About us

Mayo Clinic has expanded and changed in many ways, but our values remain true to the vision of our founders. Our primary value – The needs of the patient come first – guides our plans and decisions as we create the future of health care. Join us and you'll find a culture of teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect, and most importantly, a life-changing career. Mayo Clinic was founded in Rochester, Minnesota by brothers Dr. William James Mayo and Dr. Charles Horace Mayo. More than 100 years later, their vision continues to evolve around a single guiding value: "The needs of the patient come first." Today we are the largest integrated, not for-profit medical group practice in the world. We are recognized for high-quality patient care more than any other academic medical center in the nation. These endorsements are very gratifying, but also humbling. They remind us of the tradition that has been entrusted to each one of us, and the legacy of excellence that we uphold every day.

Earlier this month, Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Kwan Lee visited IHC RS Pusat Pertamina (RSPP), a Mayo Clinic Care Network member, to host grand rounds. The event provided medical staff with valuable knowledge on how to treat complex heart interventions to improve patient outcomes. “Dr. Lee taught us how to approach difficult cases systematically in daily clinical practice," said RSPP’s Dr. Kurniawan Iskandarsyah. "Dr. Lee’s presentation increased our insight into the development of technology in the field of interventional cardiology.” The discussion was made possible through the coordination efforts of Royston Lek, executive director of Mayo Clinic APAC, Yue Xu, account manager of Mayo Clinic APAC and Safalina Ganis, Indonesia representative.

"My mother is a breast cancer survivor, and her journey inspired my decision to investigate cancer during my predoctoral studies. I hope to address the genetic risk factors involved in cancer development that can be used as methods of prevention and to develop patient-specific treatments. Because race plays a significant role in many cancers, I aim to incorporate a focus on health disparities in my Ph.D. work." — Alani Perkin, new Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. student. "While my surgical residency is devoted to cultivating my clinical acumen, developing the skillset necessary to perform quality research requires similar attention…I view my graduate studies not as a departure from my training but as an integral component of it, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue this at Mayo Clinic." — Chelsea Powell, M.D., new Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. student. Congratulations to Lauren, who recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! 🌼 Here is an excerpt from her nomination: "My family member underwent a second transplant. While many nurses on the fourth floor provided excellent care, one nurse stood out — Lauren. As a nurse myself, I knew how important it was to have a nurse who could offer not just clinical care but also emotional support during such a challenging time. Lauren was that nurse for us. Our family member's journey was tough, and as days turned into months, it became clear they wouldn't win the battle. Lauren was there every step of the way, offering her expertise, compassion and kindness. In the final hours, Lauren ensured our family member was comfortable, free from anxiety or pain, and surrounded by love." Mayo Clinic is among over 5,000 healthcare organizations worldwide committed to the DAISY Award program. The DAISY Award is presented each month to an extraordinary nurse. Explore open nursing career opportunities. https://mayocl.in/3XbWHcL #Nurse #Nursing #Careers #Cancer
