Head of MB.OS Customer Experience at Mercedes-Benz AG, James Liu, recently took part in the “Innovation Answered” podcast with tech journalist, Scott Kirsner. The conversation focused on the software-defined vehicle, speech technology, automated driving, and the power of testing Beta Program in the public domain. “We’re in a beta period where we are learning with the technology,” James says. At #MercedesBenz, we are embracing #genAI and proactive intelligence and working at speed to develop innovative features that will transform the customer experience. This digital transformation is both extraordinary and exciting. 🎧 Take a listen: https://lnkd.in/gtMqwBTu

Since 1886 Mercedes-Benz is creating dream cars. Innovative, inspiring, desirable. With DRIVE PILOT cars like the EQS and the S-Class bring the pioneering spirit to the next level: Just take off your hands from the steering wheel and you can engage in secondary activities. Many generations have dreamed of driving Mercedes-Benz. Now it’s time to realize: We actually drive you. The automated driving functions takes over certain driving tasks. However, a driver is still required. The driver must be ready at all times to take over control of the vehicle when prompted to do so by the vehicle. To use the Digital Extras, you must create a Mercedes me ID and agree to the terms of use for the Mercedes me connect services. Legal admissibility of secondary tasks depends on countries and respective laws.

Proud of Nik S. and the Regulatory Affairs team for representing us at the Driving Vision News conference this week! Nik highlighted Mercedes-Benz’s innovative turquoise Automated Driving Marker Lights, based on SAE J3134 to industry experts and OEM leaders. When L3 DRIVE PILOT is on, these lights signal to other drivers that the car is in autonomous mode. Integrated into the headlamps, side mirrors, and rear lights, they ensure 360˚ visibility. Kudos!

When some of the world’s smartest scientists and some of the world’s brightest engineers pull together, there’s a good chance they’ll probably create some groundbreaking new technologies. To unleash this immense potential, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. – our R&D hub in Silicon Valley – just announced new research collaborations with Stanford University and UC San Diego. Stanford has been recognised as one of the cradles of #AI innovation. Students at the Stanford University School of Engineering will conduct hands-on research in the field of AI and its applications in the automotive industry. The goal: help advancing the AI-driven passenger experience. UCSD is renowned for its innovative 3D imaging research. The Autonomous Vehicle Laboratory, part of the Contextual Robotics Institute at UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, focuses on image perception and data fusion for automated driving. Innovative 3D scene reconstruction from camera images could ultimately contribute to enhancing the safety of automated driving features. Mercedes-Benz is providing funding and support from its R&D team for each collaboration. And we’ll put the students’ academic research to the test in real-world applications. We’re thrilled to work with the next generation of innovators in what we consider some of the most exciting and most promising fields one can launch a career in.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. MBRDNA was delighted to have Lori Nishiura Mackenzie, co-founder of the Stanford VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab to guide a meaningful conversation that explores the unique challenges and myths that shape the career pathways of #AAPI professionals. We discovered the impact of language and word choices in fostering inclusive workplaces and how small, everyday interactions can lead to significant changes. We took away practical tools for advocacy in professional settings to ensure all voices are heard and valued. Thank you to the #DEI Council and our DEI volunteers for organizing such an educational event!
