To be safe with people who make you feel brave to be who you are. Every Friday, McClendon Center comes together for a morning of music, dance and good times. It’s a space for everyone to share their talents, lift each other up, and be unapologetically themselves. Some of our best moments happen right here. Gentle reminder to surround yourself with those who celebrate every part of you.

About us
For more than 40 years, we've been meeting those most vulnerable in our community at their point of need, regardless of their means. McClendon Center works to improve the health and well-being of men and women who are mentally ill, economically disadvantaged, and are often the most vulnerable in our Washington, DC community. Long before ‘integrated behavioral healthcare’ models, McClendon Center has been addressing our clients’ medical needs in addition to their mental health. Since receiving our initial Joint Commission* accreditation in 1999, we continue to be the only independent mental health provider in DC to be so accredited. By providing treatment for our clients’ mental illnesses, and addressing their other needs (such as primary care, housing, socialization), we can help them dramatically improve their quality of life.
