  • 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Winners We are thrilled to announce our next inductee for the 2024 Middleton-Cross Plains Athletics Hall of Fame: Mr. James “Jumbo” Simon! Jumbo's athletic prowess was evident during his time at Middleton High School from 1943 to 1947, where he earned an astounding 11 varsity letters in football, basketball, boxing, and baseball. A local legend, Jumbo was born and raised in Middleton, graduating from MHS in 1947. During his high school career, he was named captain and MVP of both his basketball and football teams. Under his leadership, the football team secured two Madison Suburban League championships, and he led the league in scoring during his senior season. After high school, Jumbo continued his athletic journey by lettering in football at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. But Jumbo's impact didn’t end there. He played 17 seasons for the Middleton Home Talent baseball team, contributing to the 1952, 1956, and 1957 league championships, and was named Home Talent League MVP in 1961. His commitment to Middleton athletics extended to the sidelines, where he served on the chain gang for Middleton High School football for more than 40 seasons. 🌟🏆 Join us in celebrating James “Jumbo” Simon and our other esteemed honorees at the induction ceremony on October 18, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. at the Borden Athletic Complex. 🎉 The Middleton-Cross Plains Athletics Hall of Fame acknowledges those who have made significant contributions to our athletic community.

  • 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Winners🏅 The Middleton Athletic Department Hall of Fame Committee proudly honors Mr. Gene Stormer. Gene, a Middleton High School athlete from 1956 to 1960, excelled in basketball, track & field, and football, earning numerous accolades. Born in 1941 in Madison, WI, and raised in Middleton, Gene was named All Conference, All Area, and All State in football in 1959, contributing to Middleton's Badger Conference win. In 1960, he won first place in the WIAA Class B Track Sectionals and Badger Conference for discus. He was also selected for the All American football team, receiving interest from top teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. Join us to celebrate Gene's impact at the induction ceremony on October 18, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. at the Borden Athletic Complex.
