When our experts meet up with your experts for discussion of the latest developments in the waterworks industry, training on best practices, and a quick meal on us, we call that a Lunch & Learn. This month, Bob Hartzel and Roy Mundy visited with project engineers, construction managers, field supervisors and estimators from Aqua in Springfield, Pennsylvania. They gave presentations on Horizontal Directional Drilling with Ductile iron pipe, Bridges/Casings and Cathodic Protection. We offer a wide selection of topics for Lunch & Learns, and encourage you to reach out to your local rep to arrange one today. Check out the link below to learn more. https://lnkd.in/ghCcDHVj

About us
For generations, McWane Ductile has been an industry leader in water distribution and infrastructure that provide plumbing and clean water works systems. The history of McWane Ductile traces back to 1871, when Charles Phillip (C.P.) McWane entered the foundry business in Lynchburg, Virginia, with his sons, Henry and James Ransom (J.R.). McWane Inc. wasn’t formed until 1977. As the country grew, so did the need to supply flourishing cities with clean water and to remove waste safely. In 1921, J.R. McWane started the McWane Cast Iron Pipe Company, a company that was designed and built as a specialty foundry for small diameter pipe. McWane Ductile’s expansion continued throughout the century by incorporating multiple facilities, including Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, established in 1926 with McWane as a 50% partner; Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Company, purchased in 1975; Clow Water Systems Company, purchased in 1985; and Canada Pipe Company, purchased in 1989. The acquisition of these facilities strengthened McWane Ductile’s capabilities by bringing together the industry’s most experienced manufacturers and latest engineering techniques to create one iron-strong brand. Canada Pipe, also a member of the McWane ductile iron pipe companies, will retain its name, which best reflects its unique position as the leading ductile iron pipe provider in Canada. With over 900 employees, McWane Ductile is recognized today as the country's most experienced manufacturer and supplier of ductile iron pipe. The company's modern facilities offer 3" to 36" ductile iron pressure pipe and fittings to meet customer needs throughout the United States and Canada.

Each location boasts a proud history of manufacturing and has developed unique processes and techniques tailored to its layouts and designs. The summit provided discussions on best practices, highlighted the advantages of each foundry's operations, and strengthened our team's ability to cooperate and coordinate nationwide. It was an excellent gathering of expertise to bolster our continuous improvement efforts and keep our companies #IronStrong.

Velocity, Friction, Length, and Internal Diameter are all characteristics that can affect water flow in a pipeline. DYK, these factors can also adversely affect a utility's energy bill if not adequately accounted for? See Cole Mitcham, PE's most recent #IronStrong blog and video, which discusses how Ductile iron pipe addresses water flow factors and provides energy-saving and money-saving solutions. #YouAskWeAnswer #SaveEnergy #SaveMoney #DIPipeEducation https://lnkd.in/ekskW4Px

Hurricane Helene was a terrible tragedy that continues to impact thousands of people. Devastated communities will need ongoing support as they recover and rebuild. This week, McWane Ductile employees, vendors, and Coshocton, Ohio, community members collaborated to provide 23 pallets of relief supplies to help people in North Carolina. Coshocton Trucking donated the truck to cover the cost of shipping. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and gave to this effort. If you would like to contribute, The United Way of North Carolina has established a disaster relief fund that you can find at the link below. https://lnkd.in/edYbzDhb

Consider everything we can achieve when we work together. This week, our partners at Core & Main in El Mirage, Arizona, hosted a Day of Water for local municipalities. Our own Ben Johnson and Jacob Lovin, as well as Jerry Lawman from Clow Valve Company and Shane Kenny from McWane Plant & Industrial, lead the sessions. Crews from Buckeye, Peoria, and Surprise, AZ, got hands-on training installing Ductile Iron pipe while diving deep into best practices to ensure their work is #IronStrong. Jerry reviewed essential skills for disassembling, servicing, and reassembling Clow hydrants. Shane gave an overview of all the resources MPI offers to front-line operators in the water industry. A big thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success.

We are grateful for the communities we call home in Phillipsburg, NJ; Coshocton, Ohio; and Provo, UT. Our team continuously seeks opportunities to give back to those who serve us. This Summer, our New Jersey foundry celebrated our local heroes on First Responders Day and donated a thermal imaging drone to the fire department. In Utah, our foundry contributed to the Springville Rotary Club, which has served the region and improved lives since 1964. In Ohio, our employees competed with Cleveland-Cliffs - Coshocton to donate the most blood to the American Red Cross. Congrats to the folks at Cleveland Cliffs; they edged us out 39 units to our 36, but the important thing is the 200-plus lives this donation will save. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this vital work. #GivingBack #CommunityStrong #IronStrong
