Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers
About us
MDFAWL is a volunteer bar association dedicated to actively promoting the advancement of women in the legal profession, expanding the leadership role of its members in the community at large, and promoting women's rights. To achieve these goals, MDFAWL will further the common interests of its members and encourage camaraderie and learning among its members. MDFAWL will promote women's opportunities and rights, uphold the highest standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession, promote reform in the law and facilitate the administration of justice. Membership in our organization is not limited to women - indeed, we are not the Florida Association "of" Women Lawyers, rather, we are the Florida Association "for" Women Lawyers. Therefore, men and women who support our mission are welcome into our membership.

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, MDFAWL had the absolute pleasure of hosting its past presidents and other impressive women leaders for our Annual Past Presidents Brunch at Swan in the Design District. We were honored to have MDFAWL past-presidents Magistrate Deborah Magid, Kristy Johnson, Alexandra Bach Lagos, Ileana Cruz, Lara Bueso Bach, and Amber Kornreich; along with community leaders, FAWL Past-President Judge Gil S. Freeman, Debra Weiss Goodstone, Miami-Dade Bar President Charise A. Morgan, State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle; and our officers and Board members. The food was delicious, but what was especially wonderful was the conversations and camaraderie between current and former leaders and members of the community, who are still so gracious with their time and sound advice. We are so grateful for their attendance and look forward to integrating these powerful, glass-ceiling breakers in other programming and events going forward.
