A statement from Kelly Schulz on the Federal Trade Commission’s Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) pre-merger notification rules, and how they risk hampering Maryland’s technology and life sciences ecosystem. “As the largest technology and life sciences association in Maryland, we are concerned about the implications of the final HSR rules as issued by the Federal Trade Commission. The final rule will chill mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and hamper Maryland’s technology and life sciences industries, which employ more than 300,000 Marylanders and generate billions of dollars in economic activity in our state. Above all, we believe in saving lives, securing our nation, and improving quality of life through innovation, and restricting M&A threatens to upend industry’s ability to do so. We ask that our federal representatives support balanced and bipartisan policies that enable pro-competition, pro-innovation M&A.” #FTC #lifesciences #HSR PULSE (Partnership for the US Life Science Ecosystem)

In cased you missed it, we are thrilled to announce that BioHub Maryland has secured a $75,000 EARN Maryland grant from the Maryland Department of Labor to train Marylanders for biopharma manufacturing careers. The life sciences sector is a major driver of Maryland's economy, with 54,000 workers in Maryland. With a national shortage of biopharma talent, we have a clear opportunity to enhance Maryland’s competitive edge by reskilling current employees and upskilling newcomers. We are grateful for the Moore-Miller Administration's support in developing the highly-skilled talent pipeline industry needs to succeed in Maryland. Read more: https://lnkd.in/efpG6VhC
