Med Device Today and Dobbyn Digital Media were on location at Stratus Medical, producing interesting new episodes and video content for Stratus Medical. Looking forward to Cody Jorgensen’s story as the first employee of Stratus, who has had promotions and is now Director of Marketing. After some very bad car accidents that resulted in post trauma related spine pain, and 12 months of conservative care and injections, he was successfully treated with the Nimbus RF Multitined Expandable Electrode one year ago. #painrelief #paintreatment #meddevice #podcast #innovation #interventionalpainmedicine

Ok. This is a really interesting graphic. 2023 U.S. Market share for spinal implants (at least 60% of world market). My thanks to Robert Weakley for pulling it together. Key points are that the merger of Nuvasive and Globus is included and it encompasses all revenue as market share from 2023. Key points: 1. Spine is a $9B market. 3% growth. 2. Medtronic, Globus and Stryker lead the market with >50% market share combined. I have a few thoughts: 1. Medtronic- whilst they have lions share of the market share now, they have stiff competition from Globus after the acquisition. Medtronic has put a lot of its eggs into the AI/robotic/UNID platform. They are not really gearing themselves for the ASC explosion as AI/robotics/custom rods don’t fit well into the model. Adapt or die. Their core products need a refresh. 2. Globus- as Mike Selby said, 1+1 does not equal 2 when it comes to mergers. The acquisitions of Synthes, Kyphon, K2M were not blockbusters. Globus is clearly a smart company with vision so we will see if they can challenge to be #1. 3. Stryker- huge in joints. Plugging away. Not much new there. Acquisition time? 4. Depuy- I have no idea what this company is doing. Selling Band-Aids makes more money for them than spine. 5. ATEC- Talked about them. Smaller market share than I thought. Not profitable and debt-ridden but good revenue. Honestly, they are ripe for an acquisition. The 2 obvious candidates are Stryker and Medtronic. Good portfolio of products and PTP that could be readily absorbed. 6. ZimVie- crashing and burning. Essentially just 2 products, tether and Mobi-c. Probably get acquired by someone who wants a disc replacement. 7. Orthofix- not the same since Keith Valentine left. Share price tanked. Doubt they will be 4% this year. SeaSpine is working with 7D for NAV so that will help. 8. Other- 21% . Holey Moley- that’s a market of 1.89B!!! Lots of hope for the smaller companies even though US spine is dominated now by 3 players. GPOs make it harder and harder to crack contracts. Enabling Profits technologies also push surgeon's down a specific implant pathway if they use robotics/NAV etc. Please chime in. Just my thoughts. #medtronic #spinemarket #globus #stryker #depuysynthes #atec #zimvie #orthofix #seaspine #spine #spinesurgery #spinepoint
