Today, ASPR announced plans to donate 1 million doses of mpox vaccine to the international mpox response, which is the largest international donation of JYNNEOS to date. In addition, ASPR is loaning JYNNEOS manufacturer Bavarian Nordic 200,000 doses of vaccine that was procured by ASPR to ensure continued supply of the vaccine within the domestic commercial market. Today’s announcement follows a series of actions that ASPR has taken to fight mpox both at home and abroad, including our collaboration with HRSA-funded health centers to distribute mpox vaccine from ASPR’s Strategic National Stockpile to at-risk uninsured and underinsured individuals; our recent donation of 50,000 doses of JYNNEOS vaccine to the Democratic Republic of Congo; and the donation of 10,000 doses of JYNNEOS vaccine to Nigeria. We are proud to announce that InflaRx N.V., a member of the Medical Countermeasures Coalition, has been awarded by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) inclusion in a phase 2 platform trial advancing therapeutics for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). This trial represents a significant milestone in developing life-saving treatments for ARDS. InflaRx's dedication to advancing medical countermeasures is evident as they continue work on vilobelimab, a first-in-class, anti-C5a monoclonal antibody that addresses severe inflammatory responses associated with ARDS. Today, Taylor Sexton joined voices with the Coalition to Stop Flu’s Chairman, Senator Daschle to stand at a critical juncture in addressing the HPAI event and discuss enhancing our pandemic flu readiness. Senator Daschle’s insights in Lena Sun ’s article highlight a pressing concern to provide additional resources to our medical countermeasures enterprise. “Federal funding for pandemic influenza has not kept up with the threat,” he warns. Taylor Sexton adds “Vaccines and therapeutics are two sides of the same coin when we are fighting a pathogen, and both remain critical.” This is a rallying cry for collaboration and action.
