  • #CHDAware: Do you know what Ebstein's Anomaly is❓ Ebstein's Anomaly is a condition that occurs when a malformed heart valve does not properly close to keep the blood flowing in the right direction. This can cause blood to leak from the lower to the upper chambers on the right side of the heart. Ebstein's Anomaly is most commonly seen with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)🫀 Swipe through our graphic and visit the link below to learn more👇 https://lnkd.in/eMup3Sge #CHD #EbsteinsAnomaly #1in110

  • #SaturdaySpotlight: This week we are highlighting MLH of DC and the Natraj Indian School of Dance🔦 Every year the dance school chooses an organization to give some of their proceeds from their annual dance recital to, and this year MLH of DC was chosen as a young girl, Deeya, lost her life in November to congenital heart disease due to falling out of care. She was a dancer at the school for most of her life🤍 We thank the Natraj Indian School of Dance for letting us share the important resources MLH has to offer, their donation, and for bringing two different organizations together to highlight the commonality of heart disease in all communities🫀

Check out the definition and share it with others who may need it! 🫀Aorta: The main artery that supplies blood and oxygen to the body. It usually originates in the left ventricle (the main pumping chamber) of the heart. #CHD #CHDAwareness #CongenitalHeartDefects

  • #DYK that CHD can have lifelong neurodevelopmental effects❓ There is growing evidence showing that there are changes in blood flow in babies with some forms of #CHD before the baby is born that affect the brain and therefore brain development. Also, some children born with CHD have genetic factors that impact brain development. Finally, heart surgeries and other medical procedures can affect blood flow and may lead to changes in the way the brain develops🧠 To learn more about this and access free downloadable resources to navigate your child's neurodevelopmental growth visit the link below👇 https://lnkd.in/gF4sbc7Q

  • Today is #WorldMyocarditisDay🌎 Myocarditis is a rare condition causing inflammation in the middle muscle of the heart. When this happens, the inflammation can weaken the heart muscle and its electrical system causing a decline in the heart's ability to pump blood🫀 Myocarditis is the 3rd leading cause of sudden death among young adults in the developed world. Myocarditis can go undiagnosed due to the diversity of symptoms individuals can display but recent research is proving Myocarditis is much more prominent than once believed❗️ If left untreated Myocarditis can increase your risk for heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or death. Join us in spreading awareness, honoring those we have lost to myocarditis and celebrating those who have made full recoveries🤍 Learn more about #Myocarditis at the link below👇 https://lnkd.in/eckAN97Y
