Understanding the complexities of ADHD means recognizing how it intersects with other factors. According to the Surgeon General, loneliness is a national crisis issue that intersects with physical and mental health in many ways. At Mentavi Health, we recognize the importance of addressing this issue for our ADHD Online patients. That's why we've built a loneliness screen (UCLA Loneliness Scale) into every ADHD assessment and diagnosis process. Based on our ADHDonline aggregate data from a large population of ADHD patients, we found that 35.7% of patients have Moderately High or High rates of loneliness co-occurring with ADHD, noticeably higher than that of the general population. While deeper research on why this correlation exists is not yet available, we know that for many ADHD patients, loneliness may be one more aspect of the journey that physicians, therapists and Mental Wellness Coaches should keep in mind. At Mentavi, we strive to empower our patients and their providers with full insights into their broad mental health arc. We continue to work to break down barriers and foster a deeper understanding of ADHD and related conditions through our work at Mentavi, recognizing the power of our data insights to shine light on such areas. Experts estimate that about 7% of the world's social media users exhibit Problematic Social Media Use behavior (PSMU). By contrast, according to direct data from our Mentavi Health comprehensive clinical screenings at ADHD Online, over 30% of patients with ADHD also exhibit Problematic Social Media Use. What accounts for this far higher PSMU rate among the ADHD population? Research continues to evolve, but it can be speculated that it may be a circular effect. Some symptoms of ADHD may present increased risk for Social Media issues, and conversely intense social media use may heighten ADHD symptoms. The realities of mental health care are complex with many interrelated factors such as this. This is reflected in our recent addition of Mental Wellness Coaching to complement our medical treatment path, and by the expansion of our comprehensive clinical assessments under the leadership of our Chief Medical Officer Barry K. Herman, M.D., M.M.M. By focusing on areas like PSMU, we prioritize holistic care for individuals' mental wellness journey.
