🗳️Why Voting Matters: A Message from Maureen🗳️ "My name is Maureen McAleenan, and I was born in Ireland I moved to San Francisco in 1995. I have now worked for Mercy Housing for over 29+ years I am based out of our San Francisco office. I have worked and traveled round many of the great states Mercy Housing is based in as a Regional Management Specialist, I was so excited in 2023 to become a US Citizen and last week working on our new lease up in San Francisco Star View Court for the first time I was able to register to vote. I am excited to vote as it gives me a voice and allows me to vote for people and the laws that shape the direction of all our communities we serve. I urge all the Mercy Housing staff that can register and vote to do the same. In this critical election we all need to do our part and VOTE!" Maureen's story reminds us of the importance of participating in our democracy. Whether it's your first time or you're a seasoned voter, your voice matters. Make sure you’re registered and ready to vote early or on November 5th. #MercyHousingCalifornia #Vote2024 #YourVoteMatters #VoteEarly

About us
Mercy Housing is working to create a more humane world where poverty is alleviated, communities are healthy and all people can develop their full potential. We believe that affordable housing and supportive programs improve the economic status of residents, transform neighborhoods and stabilize lives. We provide affordable, program-enriched housing to a variety of people across the country, including low-income families, seniors and people with special needs. We acquire and renovate housing, as well as develop new properties. The majority of our homes are rental, but we also offer some homeownership opportunities in various communities.

Carlton Apartments in partnership with the Chicago Board of Elections recently hosted an event for residents. Over the course of two hours, CBE representatives shared important information on voting options—such as vote-by-mail and early polling locations—and opportunities to serve as election judges. We were thrilled to see over 30 tenants participate, including residents from Malden Arms and Miriam. There were even 10 residents who applied to work on Election Day, while several others updated their voter registrations with their current address. CBE even brought along a voting machine to give a live demonstration, helping familiarize those who may be new to the electronic voting system. We're proud of our residents and their strong civic engagement! #MercyHousingLakefront #AffordableHousing #RegisteredVoters #CivicDuty #Election2024

This incredible 30,000 sq. ft. community center is more than just a building; it provides connection, growth, and support for San Francisco’s Sunnydale and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods. Thank you to all our partners, supporters, and residents who made this dream a reality. We are excited to announce the opening of Star View Court, one of the newest blocks of housing in the redevelopment of Treasure Island. Mercy Housing held the grand opening celebration for the LEED Gold structure, adding 138 homes, including 94 replacement units for families living on the island. Mayor London Breed spoke at the dedication, celebrating the completion of this essential new development. Congrats to the whole team for this accomplishment! Nibbi was proud to work with Paulett Taggart Architects, Catholic Charities, and Mercy Housing to deliver these homes to San Francisco residents. #Nibbi24 #Construction #Housing

Life is full of beginnings and endings, and at each step, having a stable home can make all the difference in the world. Please watch this to see the positive impact of #AffordableHousing on the lives of #MercyHousingNorthwest residents.
Getting to know Rahel and Arnold over the past six months has been one of the greatest privileges of my storytelling career. Our friends at Madrona Bureau did such a beautiful and thoughtful job of telling their stories with dignity, grace, and compassion. If you have a few moments, I would be honored if you gave this a watch. I am so proud of the work we do at Mercy Housing. Everyday, we make an impact and change the conversation around affordable housing. https://lnkd.in/eQsM9nj3

Thank you USA TODAY for publishing my op-ed on my family's experience during Hurricane Helene and putting a spotlight on the impact of climate disasters on disabled people. I'm also grateful for organizations like Disability Law United, New Disabled South, The Arc of the United States and so many other organizations that are partnering with disabled people to advance disability rights. Disabled people are up to four times more likely to die or be seriously injured during a climate disaster. This is entirely preventable. We must center disabled people in climate change conversations and climate disaster planning.

🎉Celebrating 25 years and a Spirit of Mercy Award Winner🎉 If you've ever visited the Home Office in the last 25 years, you've met Cherie E. Harris! During her time at Mercy Housing, she has "... blessed with the opportunity to meet some amazing people that have come into my life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime." With no shortage of memories and stories to share, most impactful is Sister Lillian Murphy. "...She came into my life for a lifetime. She was strong, determined, fearless and yet so down to earth; a nun in a purple track suit." After being in the in the administrative profession for 34 years, Cherie shares that, "I am accomplished at my job because my attributes are heightened. In the several jobs that I have had, Mercy Housing let's me be me. I do not have to pretend to be someone I am not to fit in.
