Mercy Health Select (MHS) is pleased to welcome University of Toledo Physicians (UTP) to its Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organization (ACO). ACOs are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care professionals that work together to provide Medicare patients high-quality, coordinated, and cost-efficient health care. Participating since 2012, Mercy Health Select is currently caring for over 107,000 Medicare patients in Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia. MHS has been a top ten ACO, out of 480 ACOs across the country, for earned shared savings for the past three years. In 2023, Becker's Healthcare Hospital Review named Mercy Health Select ACO to its list of Top ACOs to Know. This is an exciting opportunity for MHS and UTP to work together to provide Toledo-area Medicare patients with a higher level of coordinated care, creating a better patient experience.

The celebration event was held in the St. Joseph Warren Hospital Healing Garden the day before Humility of Mary Day on July 17. Humility of Mary Day is a central celebration for the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. It marks the anniversary of when, in 1854, the Sisters of the Humility of Mary were founded. This event featured a much-anticipated opening of 1980’s capsule and burying 2024 capsule. Some of the special items unearthed in the historic capsule included: • 1953 annual report book • A 1954 St. Joseph Newsettte pamphlet • 1954 list of Sisters • Copies from the Warren Tribune • An employee recognition dinner program • Project 80s expansion program for the old St. Joseph Riverside Hospital • A rooster of employees in 1981 • Inside Riverside newsletter publications • 1980s annual report • Various nursing pins and religious charms and medals for uniforms The team enjoyed selecting items to include in the 2024 capsule for future generations to find, they selected items including our Weekly Huddle newsletters, anniversary items including a tumbler, an employee badge and clip, prayer cards and programs, a onesie from the solar eclipse and Mercy Health solar sunglasses and a proclamation from the City of Warren and several nursing Magnet pins. A Mass was held followed by a special “Visit with the Sisters” reception.
