Fantastic Friday News! We have our first placement at UPS ! Merge continues to develop relationships with top notch employer partners. Thank You Leo Ramirez and team for your support! Who's next?? Great work Erin Earlywine Carley Sander!
Good News Friday 📰 This week, Merge Opportunities experienced an impactful moment that I’m excited to share with all of you! We had the pleasure of attending the annual Orange Workforce Alliance job fair at the Honda Center —a fantastic event organized by the Anaheim, OC, and Santa Ana Workforce Development Boards. With over 140 employers in attendance, one of them being our corporate partner, Motive Workforce, whom were actively recruiting talented job seekers from Orange County. Some of the job seekers at the event were individuals that Merge has been supporting—transition-age foster youth, individuals facing housing insecurity, and parents from low-income communities. One young man, in particular, has been working with us for nearly a year while pursuing further education and working at the Conservation Corps. He attended the job fair hoping to find his next step in a warehouse position. On the hunt for warehouse jobs, I stopped by the UPS booth and had a conversation with Leo Ramirez and his talent acquisition manager about their job openings. We discussed typical response times to applicants and their onboarding process. As many of you might know, delayed responses—or no responses at all—can be disheartening for young job seekers. UPS assured me that their online application process is quick, with a reply within 25 minutes in many cases. While impressed, I remained a bit skeptical, as we’ve all heard similar claims before. Then I ran into Angelo, the one client who was looking to level up with a warehouse job. I knew UPS could be a great fit for him, so we walked over to their booth, and he applied on the spot. I left him to practice his interview skills, which we had been working on. About an hour later, Angelo returned to tell me that he had been hired and was starting on Monday. I was absolutely shocked and impressed! When he mentioned it was UPS, I was elated. Not only was their process as smooth and efficient as they promised, but this job will truly have a life-changing impact on Angelo’s future. With hard work and a positive attitude, he now has the opportunity to build a career with a global corporation. It only takes one door to open, and I am so grateful for companies like UPS, whose CSR initiatives genuinely invest in changing people’s lives for the better. #GoodNews #CSR #CommunityImpact #WorkforceDevelopment Carley Sander Barry Vince Sally Hill #CareerDevelopment #MergeOpportunities OC Workforce & Economic Development Division Anaheim Workforce Connection Santa Ana Work Center #BeTheChange #OneJobAtaTime Stars & Stripes Children's Foundation
