Since 2019, the Arizona Museum of Natural History , i.d.e.a. Museum, and Mesa Arts Center / City of Mesa Arts & Culture have proudly maintained their Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designations! In addition to training and certification from IBCCES, each of these Mesa organizations provides sensory bags upon request, uses social stories, and participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program for discreet support. The Arizona Museum of Natural History (AMNH) also offers noise-canceling headphones and light-sensitivity glasses, while both the i.d.e.a. Museum and AMNH feature sensory guides created by IBCCES and sensory gentle hours. Recently, Mesa Arts Center expanded its designated sensory spaces for festivals to welcome even more visitors. These efforts are part of a larger initiative by Visit Mesa, which made Mesa the first Autism Certified City™ in the world.
